Yes, Johnny Depp would be a good person to play Freddie. He would probably look more like him too than that one from Will & Grace.

He doesn't have protruding teeth. This is disqualifying.

Freddie's life was short, but full of gay lovers. And I assume the movie's also gonna focus on Fred's gay friends (unfortunately). And for most of the non-Queen fans, it's gonna be a good movie!

I LOVE QUEEN!

Well, gee folks, let's consider ourselves warned that despite what gainfully employed filmmakers and actors think, Cecilia doesn't think the movie will be good. In fact, I think we ought to notify Erick McCormack himself of her review now, thereby saving him a lot of time and embarrassment!!! I'm quite sure he'll appreciate Cecilia's warning.

Cecilia's right again!!! Why should anyone play Freddie in a movie, other than Freddie's clone? I mean, if a bit of makeup or a costume is required in order to help them better resemble the character, that's frickin' ridiculous!!! I've never heard of that before!

And just because Eric recently starred in the BROADWAY MUSICAL "The Music Man", and in doing so sold thousands of tickets to fans who DO recognize Eric's singing ability, my money's still with darling Cecilia - how dare he even try! After all, Freddie's life was SHORT - HOW CAN THEY MAKE A MOVIE ABOUT THAT?!?!?!?!?!?!

(god, how life must be difficult for you... here's hoping you stumble across the other half of your brain that you tragically lost.)

Jeeze...I don't understand the concern here. Nor do I see Johnny Depp in that role. Wrong face structure, his eyes aren't set right...his bottom teeth are messed up while his top teeth are perfect, the voice doesn't work, etc.

I've seen Eric McCormack act outside of Will and Grace, and he's really quite good.

He did "Sweet Transvestite" from The Rocky Horror Picture Show once, and he did FANTASTIC! The best I've ever seen. He's a good actor, really. Will is just a one-dimensional character.

If you don't want to see the movie because of him, much power to you. It's just dumb to me...he is obviously willing to pay tribute to Freddie, who are you to say he doesn't do it good enough? That's like bashing the tribute bands who play their hearts out doing Queen...their favourite band's...songs night after night and saying their tribute isn't good enough.

It's not cool.

Well! Let's have him hanged just because he's not a dead-on look-alike! There are a lot of people that act in true stories that look nothing like the people they're portraying. For example:

Boys Don't Cry - the character John Lotter looks nothing like the real John Lotter.

The Ryan White Movie - the people that play Ryan and his mom look nothing like the real people.

The Miracle video - Ross McCall didn't look like Freddie, and he certainly didn't have the same teeth as him! Yet *gasp* HE STILL GOT TO BE FREDDIE!

The list goes on. It's not just about who looks more like him, it's about who can make us believe it's him. Johnny Depp could probably be Freddie I'm sure. But we got Eric and I'm sure he's just as good. And VH1 isn't in charge of making this movie so it's bound to actually be good! (Americans can back me up that US VH1 makes crappy movies)

That is true, though, about the VH1 making crappy movies... but event if VH1 doesn't make it, that won't make the movie "bound to be good."

It's no lie that because of Eric McCormick as Freddie, I'm gonna come out of the theatre pretty fuckin unhappy. But hey, let's think positive!

Is it going to be in a theatre or will it be a TV movie?
