In the midst of all the threads about Lottery tickets, set lists, lack of gigs in certain countries, has anybody bothered to think or even care about the uncanny connection of Mott The Hoople on this tour? Queen suppoted Mott in 1974 on their only support tour. They've never supported since. Mick Ralphs the guitarist from Mott joined Bad Company in 1974 with Paul Rodgers. Brian covered All The Way from Memphis on his Another World album with guest vocals from Ian Hunter.....lead singer with Mott and of course All The Young Dudes at the Tribute concert. I wonder if they'll play a Mott number like Memphis, or Dudes on this tour. Dudes was written by David Bowie which connects with Under Pressure. It's very interesting isn't it?. Maybe I'm delving too deep and should stick to Queen songs but as a REAL surprise a Mott number may appear from somewhere.

It's probably very remote and unlikely I know, but if they decide to go back to their roots on this tour, they may reflect on their very early days and the fact that Brian has played this before. Pure guesswork I know...I've said that solo or covers should be kept to a minimum but this could be too good to resist. Many fans will think this is a crazy idea preferring songs from Queen & Queen 2 instead. Anyway, it's only a thought.

Spooky. Early 70s groups interact through the years.

You missed out guest appearances on All American Alien Boy, the Mick Ronson tribute, and the bassline to Heroes turning up in AKOM

Forgot about All American Alien Boy, but you missed You Nearly Did Me In.... a poor quality recording of Ian Hunter's. I've got it on CD somewhere. Come to think of it Mick Ronson took over from Mick Ralphs.
I can't fault your knowledge about this thread but only started it in an attempt to get any thoughts about the possibility of playing Mott numbers. That's the response I was expecting... but your extra history lesson is welcome.

Interesting Ian Hunter and Mick Ralphs will also be touring around May putting on some damned fine shows, I've seen him the last four or five years in Leeds and he's quite fantastic... check out ianhunter.com for the tour dates if you also fancy seeing another fab show around that time :o)

Thanks for info.......nearest gig is Wrexham but never mind. UK dates start on 12/05/05 and do not co-incide with Queen + Paul Rodgers tour! I wonder if Ian Hunter will be a special guest as well as the yet unannounced support band. Won't happen I guess but I can always keep dreaming. Imagine Hunter, Rodgers and Brian blasting out Memphis....would be brilliant but as many people keep saying this is Paul Rodgers + Queen tour so it will never happen.

Why do you have to spoil your post with a cynical, "let's wind this guy up", totally missing the point response. I'm not sure I like or even understand your "humour"......it may work where you come from but it doesn't work with me. Try your luck with some other poor sod. Controlling development of threads...get a life!!

Websites.....lol and Hahahahahahahahahahah!

Now I'd never picked up on the Heroes and A Kind Of Magic bassline before! Just goes to show how carefully I was listening!
OT I know but any other examples (I know Another One Bites The Dust is Chic's Good Times, for example)
Cheers,
Andrew
