Has anyone else noticed that all the official live Queen DVD's released by QP are only shows from England?!

It seems to me that Jim Beach wants an excuse not to release Queen concerts from other shows on DVD, hence a possible reason why we won't ever get Houston '77 on DVD.

I could be wrong, but I think QP are biased.

I think they release shows which have been filmed and being in good quality and no matter where they've been played... But maybe there's something right in your words...

Budapest was in a good quality.
There goes that argument.

That's hardly a surprise, considering that QP didn't actually bother to film a concert outside UK themselves...
I mean, surely they would have to pay a small share of the profits to all those foreign TV companies who did the recording in the first place. There just wouldn't be as much profit in it for the band. :P

So it was released actually.

If they'd release Earls Court - it's gonna be another one English gig :)

I think they're just going in order of popular demand. I think they need to get their arses in gear for a decent '79 concert. Houston '77 too!

You determined all of this, including rooting out prejudices from QP, based on only 2 releases?

Wrong. 3 releases:

Freddie Mercury Tribute - Wembley Stadium 1992, London, UK
Live At Wembley Stadium - WS 1986, London, UK
On Fire: Live At The Bowl - Milton Keynes, ???, UK

Awesome insight. Is it because the copyrights from UK shows can be accessed locally and the foreign shows involve a tangle of red tape thus delaying or hindering possible releases?

Possibly.

For example, MaFilms in Hungary owns the 35mm film reel footage for complete Budapest 1986 concert. Edited version was only ever released on VHS and LaserDisc, worldwide. No official DVD releases.

Only other releases from Budapest:

1) "Tavaszi Szel Vizet Araszt" - bonus track on American re-master of Wembley Stadium '86 concert 2CD re-release
2) Whatever's on Live Magic (in edited form) - I think it's "Under Pressure", which sounds different to the video version on VHS, as far as my memory goes

Another example is Rock In Rio, which like WWRY was a mixture of the two nights Queen played the festival (if you don't believe me, watch the "now i'm here" performance, and note the confusing changes between Brian's original Red Special and Guild prototype he used at the time - QueenConcerts also backs up my claim, regarding the two dates mixed into one video, also very edited). Who knows if the complete footage from both nights exist? (Although bootleg tapes exist with the complete performance, the one with Rock In Rio Blues)

Other releases from RIR

1) Rock In Rio Blues - B-side to "A Winter's Tale" UK, and also a b-side to a single in the US (in edited form), which I can't remember
2) Love Of My Life - on the USA "Five Live" cassette tape issue only

Another example is the We Will Rock You DVD, which is a legal Queen release, but not one owned by QP, and therefore only available on DVD in Canada and U.S.A.

Other releases: None (except for bootlegs of course)

Excuse me.

You determined all of this, including rooting out prejudices from QP, based on only 3 releases, one of which was an all-star tribute for charity?

OK, I'm slightly wrong. There was the 46664 DVD, from South Africa, but QP had nothing to do with it other than license the songs used on the DVD/CD release.

I still stand corrected though.

And I've noticed they've released live DVDs from '80s not form '70s. Though their skills of '80s were better than '70s especially in live stages, but I wonder what made them do like that really ? It seems they have no intention to release from '70s. I'm afraid that they are going to put them in the vaults. All we can do is keep our fingers crossed?
