In terms of songwriting, from Sheer Heart Attack onwards, John and Roger both had similar numbers of songs released on each Queen album. I thought it might be interesting to compare their input from each album, and see who came out on top in each release. Obviously, this is just personal opinion!

Sheer Heart Attack:
John- Misfire vs. Roger- Tenement Funster
Winner: Roger
A Night at the Opera:
John- You're My Best Friend vs. Roger- I'm in Love With My Car
Winner: (a close one for me) John
A Day at the Races:
John- You and I vs. Roger- Drowse
Winner: (another really tough one!) Roger
News of the World
John- Spread Your Wings/Who Needs You vs. Roger Fight From the Inside/Sheer Heart Attack
Winner: John (on the strength of SYW)
Jazz
John- In Only Seven Days/If You Can't Beat Them vs. Roger-Fun It/More of That Jazz
Winner: John
The Game
John-Another One Bites the Dust/Need Your Loving Tonight vs. Roger-Rock It/Coming Soon
Winner: John
Hot Space
John-Back Chat/half of Cool Cat vs. Roger- Action This Day/Calling All Girls
Winner: Roger
The Works
John-I Want to Break Free vs. Roger-Radio GaGa/half of Machines
Winner: (battle of the big hits!) Roger
A Kind of Magic
John-One Year of Love/half of Friends will be Friends/half of Pain is So Close.. vs. Roger- A Kind of Magic/Don't Lose Your Head
Winner: Roger
I'm too tired to sort out who wrote what on the later albums, hopefully someone else will pick it up from there.....but for me, from SHA to AKOM, the score stands at: Roger 5, John 4....Pretty good battle.....

Very interresting.

I agree with all but ADatR and AKoM.

And I agree with you!

By the way, does your username have anything to do with Billy Joel?

It does.
Billy is my second favorite music-guy.

Too bad his tickets for the show at
the Hard Rock in Vegas are $325...

I think I agree with all of those, though I'm not completely sure about A Kind Of Magic, since Don't Lose Your Head isn't that great.

Resistance is futile. You are now an orb.
