I have posted this in the "General" topic as well but I thought that since this is popular part of the forum I'd do it here too.

I imagine you Brits would know about this but for the rest of the world there is a competition to name the new footbridge to Wembley Stadium. Now it seems to me they are thinking football but I say lets put the vote in for it to be named after Freddie! My suggestion was "Mercury Way". My thinking was that its no use suggesting Queen because of course people will think that's after Her Majesty and she's got enough stuff named after her! (no disrespect intended!)

If you wish to vote here is the website:-

Lets tell all the Queen fans we can about this! I think its worth a shot and hey, why not after Freddie as Queen are a big part of Wembley's history!!

Should be named after a footballer. Simple as that. Freddie appeared at Wembley three times. Bobby Moore, Bobby Charlton, Tom Finney, Stanley Matthews, Bryan Robson, Gary Lineker played there countless times. Carlton Palmer has more claim to it than Freddie.

Sorry but true.

Agreed. Bobby Moore will win this.

It was a football stadium that musicians used, not vice versa

To appease the football fans I also submitted Champions' Way - kill two birds with one stone?

A week or so ago, I received an e-mail suggesting to call it "Dietmar Hamann bridge". After all, he scored the last goal at Wembley. I'm sure you British people would be more than happy with that name.
I personally couldn't care less about the name of some bridge.

The bridge will lead to the stadium.

You may well be able to see the Arena from it, but Queen's performances at the Arena are not interchangeable with the Stadium.
