Just wondering if any of the younger girls here have bought this magazine and noticed that darling Freddie is featured in it ? I got a lovley surprise when I turned the page and under the heading Anti - Icon was a picture of Freddie performing Live Aid. Was very happy to find out that it's not just me that loves him in the yummy white jeans and vest he wore that day !!
Nice to know that he is not forgotten (and never should be) by the younger generation when usually girls at my school have no ideal who he is (don't worry I ALWAYS fill them in on all they need to know!) !! !! :-)

--I live in the USA so I don't know if I will get to see this. Once a week I drive down to Washington, DC (I live in Baltimore, Maryland USA), as the stores in Washington cater to a totally different, more cosmopolitan, artsy crowd-

--and so I often see all of the UK versions of Elle, Vogue, etc. as well as the Brtish Music magazines down there.--

--If I drive down there this week I'm gonna look for it.--

--Great to hear that Ellegirl in the UK thinks Freddie is---all that--crazy..sexy...cool...

--What page is it on again?--

--Also who is on the cover so I can find it?--

--And again on what page is Freddie on?--

-- (I agree totally with you) by the way that at Live Aid, Freddie's look and attire or his "Yummy jeans and vest".--were just that!!!!

Hi! It's Kelly Osbourne on the front cover and it's page 54 under the heading Anti - Icon just in case you can't find it here's what it says ...

Anti - Icon

Who? Freddie Mercury

The lead singer of Queen? That's the one.

What! Are jumpsuits* and big 'taches making a big comeback?

Never say never, but that's not the look we're thinking of. It's his fashion-forward pale denim ensemble that caught our eye.

We like the bracelet round the upper-arm vibe. Very original.

Like a true ELLEboy, unique was always his signature style.

So pale denim you say...

Its THE fashionable fabric of this Spring/Summer dontcha know.

We do now. And he favours the tight, high waisted cut we can see...

Again the new way for denim lovers to don their jeans.

It's jeanius! His wardrobe was ahead of it's time.
Freddie's style was pretty hot**.
That's probably why they call him Mr Fahrenheit.

*I don't remember him ever wearing a jump suit, when did he wear a jump suit?

**In my opinion his fashion sense wasn't all that was hot, if ya know what I mean !!!!

Hope you find it ! xxxxxxxx

Quote "We like the bracelet round the upper-arm vibe. Very original." from UK ElleGirl Magazine.

Great, I remember you answered my post about Freddie's arm bracelets...so sexy!

I think Freddie never looked well...hotter...than at Live Aid, yet still classy. Like I said, Crazy, sexy, cool, delicious!

And you know it's not just the clothes that make the man as they say. Freddie had so much confidence, charm, warmth, humor, sensuality, charisma and that makes for the ultimate in sexy and style..and he never exuded it more than at Live Aid.

----Thanks, very much---for all of the information about this issue of the UK edition of ElleGirl. I will be looking for it in (Rockville,! )really that's the name of the city on the outskirts of Washington DC that carries all the great music and UK publications here in Maryland USA.

I also am waiting with baited breath for the Special Mojo Queen Edition too!

Thanks Again!

--You said that you are part of the younger generation and you are still in school. I'm in my 40's and I think it's wonderful that you have an open mind and know about Freddie, Queen and the great music artists of well...old me..my generation.

If it makes you feel any better, I read ElleGirl, CosmoGirl, Teen Vogue every month, "The O.C." is my favorite TV show and from the younger generation....--

--I love actor Benjamin McKenzie from "The O.C." He's nothing like the role he plays on the show. His father is a lawyer, his Uncle is a Pulitzer Prize winning playwright. Ben finished college in Economics--

--(like John Deacon!),--

--Ben wears GQ clothes and...he was a regular speaker at The Democratic National Convention to speak on behalf of John Kerry and to make the younger generation aware of their power and responsibility in their voice to vote.--

--So, that makes Ben McKenzie sexy to me too!--

--Though nowhere in a league with Freddie, I just mean I like Ben too.--

Hi! Arlene, Wow ! You certainly know a lot about Ben Mckenzie ! I don't watch the OC that much but I do sometimes. I LOVE the theme tune, did you hear that it's coming out on single, I'll defintly be buying it !! I know it's not just Freddie's dress sense that made him so very, very hot, delicious fabulous ect.!! I was wondering, did you ever see Queen live? Every time I watch either live at Wembley or Milton Keynes Bowl on dvd i always think to myself "Man I would give my right arm to go to that!". I'm always trying to get people at school into Queen because I have to admit I didn't think Queen were so cool before I actually heard their music. Sure I'd heard WWRY and WATC + stuff but i didn't know about other great songs like I Want It All and Seven Seas Of Ryhe ect. I only got into Queen in October 2004 when my dad got free tickets to a tribute concert.
I don't always manage to get people to open their minds and listen to Queen. About a month ago I even did a solo talk in English on the v. delicious Freddie, I even got top marks !!!

-For me Freddie was his hottest...it's a tie!-

-Absolutely the way he looked and dressed at Live Aid!!!!(and how he moved, danced and presented himself with bravura confidence, winning over the crowd--

-tied with-

-Around 1973-1975 when he had long raven black hair and dressed in Zandra Rhodes costumes, but the pinnacle when Freddie was at his most sensual, stunning, gorgeous, was Freddie in those Mick Rock "nude" photos....someone get me a cold shower!!!!--

--Very unlucky me,, I have NEVER seen Queen or Freddie perform live. I was 14 when they hit big here in the United States & my Mom would not allow me to go to a concert until I was 21!--

--By then Queen had stopped touring the USA--sniffle, teardrop!--

--I did see all of their videos when they first aired here in the USA mostly on MTV, and--way prior to that I saw them perform live and saw the video for "Bohemian Rhapsody" on a VERY late night music concert TV show that ran here in the USA in the 1970's called "The Midnight Special".--

--As for "The O.C." I have all 4 Soundtracks, Music From The O.C. Mixes, 1, 2, 3 & Number 4 which will come out in Britain (and the USA) in about 1 month.--

--The Best cut on Mix 1 is British band's South's song "Paint The Silence" from the scene where Ben McKenzie's character Ryan kisses the love of his life, Mischa Barton's character Marissa--for the very 1st time on The Ferris Wheel.--

--The best song on the soon to be released Mix 4 is Matt Pond PA's cover of Oasis' "Champagne Supernova"--

--FYI--I am a music/entertainment journalist and have been regularly covering the music on "The O.C." I just reviewed Mix 4, and--

--if you get "American Songwriter Magazine" in Britain (as we get most of the British music magazines here in the States), the January/February 2005 issue has my interview with "The O.C."'s Music Supervisor, Alexandra Patsavas.--

-----------Last note---------I really have less leverage than one might think for a member of the press and music industry,--but I have suggested to Alex Patsavas, who selects, licenses and places new--

--and classic music artists alike's music on the actual TV show "The O.C.", --

---4 songs by Queen---

---"Love Of My Life" -Live version from "Queen-Live At Wembley Stadium"--

--"These Are The Days Of Our Lives" from "Innuendo"--

--"Tear It Up" from "Live At Wembley"--

--"A Kind of Magic" from self titled album--

--I have not heard back from her or my contacts at Hollywood Records who I also suggested it to but I don't think they are...let's say as supportive or enthused as I am about this and I even told them it would be a wonderful way to make the current NEW Young generation of teens out there--

--Aware of Queen and their brilliant music.--

You're right that would be a wonderful way to let teens today experience Queen, hope they realise that soon. Very, very, extreemly unlucky me, i was born 1 year after Freddie's passing, as you'll have worked out I'm 12 ! I've never seen the Live Aid footage before (again poor poor me !!) So i don't know about the actual performing but, again, those jeans, that vest *Screams* oh ! *Faints* ! Yum - my !!!!
But I have to say, again, my fave Freddie 'era' was the long hair and *gulps* the tight Zandra Rhodes catsuit type outfits, *swoons* . And as I have said before the Mick Rock "nude" shots !!!!!I meant to say before even though Freddie was obviously so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so sso so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so
so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hot !!! I've always thought Roger was exceptionally sexy!!
What about you?

P.S Cool job! Will look out for that mag, I'm sure I'll find it somewhere, I would really like to see that review !

Lol!

You girls remind me of a skit that was on a recent Saturday Night Live here in the United States...

Paris Hilton was the host, in the scene she plays a high school cheerleader looking for a date to homecoming because a guy she was going with cancelled to go to a Queen concert.

Paris walks in and says:
"I am so torn, I don't know who to go to homecoming with now."

First girl says: "I thought she was going with Tommy Walker."

2nd girl says: "He cancelled on her to go to a Queen concert."

First girl says: "Who could blame him, Freddie Mercury is soooo hot, with those capes, and that moustache."

The audience cracks up laughing.

___________________________________
Queen is 100% my favorite band, and I am 100% straight.... I've heard Freddie called alot of things, but hot is not one of them.

While everyone has sex appeal in different ways.
(I used to know a working female model who would literally get wet if she saw Elton John) ......
Freddie's sex appeal isn't very obvious to me.

But I think its cool that you ladies find a very camp and (flame)boyant Freddie sexy.

To Scott_Mercury... (Freddie4ever92 read lower down this post to you)...

I know about that Saturday Night Live skit and I really laughed and appreciated it...hey Paris Hilton and SNL's writers have taste...

On and I am a smart girl, I knew about Freddie's ur...flamboyance...as you discreetly and tastefully put it, when I was only a kid, because since I grew up around showbiz people and have worked in showbiz, I learned about that stuff very early. So what. Handsome, sexy, classy comes in all packages and is classic.

Also to Freddie4ever92, Freddie Mercury was the hottest of the hot, when I was 14 and discovered him and now still even more for me at old lady me 43.

Also, I watched the entire Live Aid Concert broadcast Live start to finish with my mom at home July 13, 1985 and it was 103 degrees here in Maryland that day.

The highlight were 2 acts for me, Bono and U2 who I thought their performance was only 2nd to Freddie & Queen,--

Of course Number 1 was Freddie and Queen. I just thought...wow..and yes the first different thing I noticed was his sexy upper leather, silver studded arm bracelet. And Queen just mesmerized me, and well the world that day with their transcendent performance.

We had the TV on and Live Aid was simulcast on--2--TV stations...one kept showing the acts at Wembley, one at Philadelphia and (bear in mind this was before remore controls or TVO was invented so I parked a chair in front of the TV and I kept switching the channels back & forth so I wouldn't miss a thing.

Better yet was out top FM Radio station also broadcast the entire thing, so I turned the sound--off-on the TV, and turned up our very excellent stereo system which the radio rceiver was part of...and rocked the house from 7am EST USA time when Live Aid began at Wembley, until about midnight USA EST when Live Aid ended at Philly.

...woops my computer crashed....continuing....

so then in July 1995, VH1 TV in the USA
re-broadcast --selected parts, about 8 hours worth of Live Aid..for the 10th Anniversary...and to help Bob Geldof with his selfless continuing activism on behalf of the starving/impoverished in Africa.

On the 1995 re-broadcast, they also had in between actual Live Aid footage peformances,

NEW at that time, 1995, Interviews with alot of the music artists who actually performed at Live Aid in 1985, discussing their fond memories at and of Live Aid...and of course....

--all the artists interviewed were unanimous in their praise, accolades, and admiration for Freddie & Queen's performance...and as I remember some of the quotes from some of the artists interviewed, I can't recall who they were but I think it was Midge Ure from Ultravox and members of Status Quo, Duran Duran, as I still have it on a cassette tape that I taped but I had no VCR to videotape it,..

but some of the quotes I remember off the top of my head from about 3 or 4 artists interviewed on the 1995 re-broadcast said,

-about Freddie "and he was just such a natural showman and he just loved the day." and another quote about Queen "and the power of their performance was just transcendent....Whether you were or weren't a fan of their music, you couldn't deny their brilliance. It was simply just one of the best live performances ever given by any artist, anywhere...ever...."

One artist affectionately kidded around and said..."I wouldn't have wanted to go on after Queen". meaning what artist would have wanted to perform after Queen, how could any artist top that!

I've literally memorized it because while I don't own a DVD player and I have not yet bought the Live Aid DVD, I still play my cassette tape all the time, especially since Live Aid is back in the public eye again with its DVD release.

I am concerned though that when my tape gets too old or if its ever ruined I will lose the Great 1995 artist interviews which I love because it was special and more meaningful to hear their thoughts and fond recollections/reflections of Live Aid and the heartfelt joy of so many musicians using music as Bob Geldof titled the DVD even, "The Day Music Changed The World"...for the better.

I have no idea if Freddie worked out, but as you can see by his live performances, unlike alot of singers who just stand at the microphone..

Freddie actually danced and did actual wonderful (and often graceful/catlike) diffucult acrobatic steps (and yes he performed with the Royal Ballet) I even have a photo of him dancing and performing with the Royal Ballet October 7th, 1979.

He kept in shape I guess and that's good. ABut all the guys in Queen do....

...oh and to answer a question I think on on eof your posts, yes Roger is my 2nd favorite as HOT!, but Freddie is always number 1!!!!

You're probably right right about the perfomrnaces thats probably how he was so fit. I'd heard about that Ballet thing never seen pictures though. Sorry but for me in the hottness stakes it's Roger then Freddie but they are soooo close together it's unbelievable !! !! !! !! !! !! No offence to Rog but I've always thought Freddie was more manly, hunky + muscly (it's unlikly but man, I hope Roger doesn't stumble upon this website, read this post and then take great offence) !

Ladies,

I've been around alot of people... from music biz to show business....and no, I've heard "amazingly talented, unbelieveable voice" ...but I have never heard "hot" as a description for my man Freddie.

My wife would easily site Queen as her favorite band as well, but usually will not watch one of their concerts with me...as she says "Uggghhh, he's so disgusting."

Keep in mind, Freddie is her favorite singer, as he is mine too....but for his talent only.

My mom is all about Roger....its funny... mom refers to him as the "yummy drummer from Queen"...
However, mom and my wife both agree that Freddie was lucky to have anyone in bed with him...male/female/mammal..etc...

You know, everyone is attracted to different things...nothing wrong with that.

Freddie was an amazing performer, and very physically fit (for a 2 pack a day smoker) and that in and of it self is probably the main reason for attraction.....

Understand from my point of view, I see you ladies as ages what?? 16 to 25 talking about how hot a gay man, who would be 59 this year is, who lived with his boyfriend and 7 cats....

Now thats dedication ladies!!
