Hi guys,
I know Freddie did drugs. What was his attitude toward drug use etc.? I mean, I know he had the wildest parties and took lots of different stuff, yet he doesn't look nor sound like a drug addict to me! Very different from other singers. I think he was one of those few people who can manage drugs just to have fun and are strong enough not to become dependent. What do you think?

Did Freddie stop using drugs later on in his life? Maybe in the mid-late 80's?

Maybe he realised the importance of not being seen in public, smacked out of his head.

Freddie wasn't using drugs. He didn't need it.

I hear he refused to fall into a drink or any drug around the era of his early twenties, cuz he was extremely ambitious to make it in the music scene. I think even though after Queen reached the stardom he was always Freddie in some ways, so he was as adamant not to be dependent on drugs as he used to be in early days of them...

freddie's wild parties were notorious

he did shedloads of cocaine - and anyone who says he didn't really has no idea of the truth

Everyone here has brought up some good points. It's obviously been documented that Freddie enjoyed cocaine and vodka but he seemed to be responsible about it. I've never heard of him entering a detox center or getting arrested for posession or anything like that. I think there are some people that are smart enough to know when they've reached a limit and don't want to go overboard. He was one of those people. I would think being on the road there might be some usage but when he was living and partying in Munich in the early 80's I'm sure he must have had some binges. But he never let it catch up to him. Elton was a mess and you could visibly see that. Freddie was always healthy looking.

Fairy tu un argomento "normale" no eh? :P

I just say that fortunately Freddie did not ruin himself with kgs of cocaine as Elton did. Maybe Brian and John sober life style helped Freddie not to fall into addiction.
just an idea...

i read in a biography somewhere that Freddie was very much professional early on, he once returned back to Roger's flat (i think) and made himself a cup of tea and didnt realise the tea 'leaves' were actually drugs!so he got stoned by mstake lol.

I meant to say imho, even in '80s he was as cool business minded inside as he used do be and he was firm enough to control himself and to keep himself from being dependent on drugs.

ironic isn't it that Freddie and Elton both have very similar lifestyles, bisexual cocaine using rockstars who like a glass or two of the falling down juice too!

so Elton gets completely wazzed on Colombian marching Powder, but Freddie stays in control. Freddie shags every bloke that with a pulse, but Elton stays in control.

now, if i had to make the choice - Cocaine or HIV i know which it'd be

'cept that, in the last few years he became completely dependent to an extent that ICI could've stayed afloat on freddie's prescriptions alone! - yet it still couldn't save him

Thanks guys for all of your feedback! I think we all seem to agree on the fact that while Freddie did use drugs - yes I think it's notorious - he still was in control. That's the hardest thing to do about drugs, and he was cool about that too!

HITMAN: lo so, non sono normale...:-)! Ma in realtà l'ispirazione per questa domanda mi è venuta da un altro messaggio sul forum.

Ciao to all!

He said himself that he liked to be in control so maybe he didn't want to be totally out of it and not be able to control what he was doing. I read about Freddie coming home to the flat, drinking the tea and getting stoned as well V.funny! lol !;-D
