Length: 117:43 (46:14 + 71:29)

Comment:
Recently discovered soundboard recording, the best from this tour. Maybe slightly too much treble and a bit of hiss but still an amazing recording. Only a few small cuts. Most of God Save The Queen is missing. After Somebody To Love the show stopped for a while because of some sound problems. Spread Your Wings features a Don't Stop Me Now intro (quite a surprise - they didn't play Don't Stop Me Now until the European tour). The instrumental inferno with guitar and drums sounds very good (a bit like Hammer To Fall :-), the Keep Yourself Alive intro includes a short drum solo. {More info at Queenconcerts.com}

I have it but I can only burn discs. GLad to help though!!! Strange thing about this gig is right after Somebody to Love they leave the stage for several minutes due to a technical problem. There were a few on that tour. Especially lighting problems. I saw Freddie berate the lighting guy when I saw them in Providence in 78. And the lighting guy is my fucking cousin. He did it again a few night later in Long Island, which can be heard on that disc after Fat Bottomed Girls. The Chicago show is performed extremely well. They were well oiled around this time and even the two Canadian shows in Montreal and Toronto are performed fantastically. You'll love this wehn you get it!!!

Obviously, you must not have been around when Mr Scully used to share mp3 rarities on a regular basis at his old site.

Of course, that was before entitlement became all the rage on QZ.

Mr Scully is somewhere between Zeni's nomination for sainthood and ThomasQuinn's muckracking - Although he is closer to sainthood than villiany.

As far as I know, Mr. Scully has done nothing within the past several years to warrant such an attack.

I wouldn't say sainthood, but he's certainly done more than Caspar gives him credit for.

I dunno... the more people graciously share... the more greedy other people become.

If Mr Z has a very rare bootleg - It would be amazingly nice if he chose to share it but you can't expect him to share it freely.

Please... think before you speak! I've traded this show with Mr. Scully... He is a very friendly person.

You're wrong! There are 2 versions of this show:

1. A excellent audience recording: You can still hear the audience very well, John's bass is a little bit distant, but overall a great version of this show!
2. A recently discovered soundboard recording, directly from the mastertape. John's bass in much better in the mix, so the soundquality has improved a lot. Still some tapehiss, though.

The second version is quite rare.

I would certainly love a copy of this show! Is there any way someone could post it? I've given up on the Hub as I have had great difficulty getting on. Any '78 show of soundboard quality is a must have.

ThomasQuinn:

1. I don't know if it's soundboard or audience and I don't really care, for me it's just a pretty enjoyable recording.

2. I have absolutely no problem with trading Chicago 78 (or Chicago 80 - which also leaked recently from the same source in EX quality). I'm not in the hub though.

3. I don't give a **** about rarities anymore, the past discussions about them have done enough harm in the Queen community. I don't collect demos anymore, I have even almost stopped collecting live recordings. Collecting concert memorabilia and seeing Queen live, these are my two passions right now.

4. I am a trader - if you want something from me, it's not a problem at all as long as you give me something in exchange. I do share - but with my friends (not necessarily collectors! just friends) which does not include you. My Internet connection is shit and my free time is by far too precious to allow me to send free CD's to total strangers - and the more I admire people like Zeni or YourValentine or Rip Van Winkle who probably do that.

Any questions?

Hey Scully, don't let the negative shit about you get you down or make you defensive. You and I have e-mailed each other back and forth and I found you to be a very decent guy. And a very busy one too. I hope to have some photos of my memorabilia sent to you soon Dude. I haven't forgotten.

Nino - nice to see you on this board :-)

ThomasQuinn - I'll just be happier if people don't speak about me behind my back. I know I might have been "protective" about a couple of songs in the past but believe me, it's nothing compared to plenty of people who're on QueenZone too. It's just that I'm sometimes too loud. But I learnt my lesson...

I have a version which seems to be slightly altered, but I think it's the orginal bootleg... only... it's soundboard until about 30 seconds into Spread Your Wings and then switched to an excellent audience recording.

Maybe the audience version people talk about is this one, or maybe an entire soundboard version doesn't actually exist?!

Help me out on this one... I got it from the hub some time ago.

It's at 256 kpbs if any one has the exact same one

I hope we are finished because I have an important question to ask:

Can anyone burn me a copy of the Platinum collection (onthree discks of course) and mail it to me special devivery? I don't want to wait too long to hear it.

And while you are at it can you send me a copy the Queen & PR Brixton show? I have never heard any of these Queen songs live before.

I have a 256 hub copy of this show. I did not notice a change in audio quality, but I have only listened to it once or twice (and I was not listening that closely (in the car).
