I'll be trying to film a few songs with my digital photocamera. It's 320x240, 19 frames a second with sound. Quite close to smooth moving (25 frames/sec is normal).
I hope to be able to film about 4 or 5 songs depending on lenght and memorycard size.

>Acts do not want unofficial material out there - what if they had an off
night? Queen are a band who always release quality products and despise
bootleggers.

You've GOT to be joking!!!

This from the people that are putting bootlegs up on an official site for fans to download and, as a result, increasing website traffic and as a result, interest in the band.

"Piracy" steals money from bands because pirated recordings are available in shops.

"Bootlegs" do not steal anything from anyone because the band don't choose to make the recordings available officially, therefore, there's no money going to the band in the first place.

Who did you send the e-mail to? Sounds like a Jacky Gunn / OIQFC response to me......

I don't know what's worse: the fact someone took time to respond or the fact that you actually emailed asking to bootleg a show.

Why don't you email and ask if you can put up copyright songs on the internet for free? Better yet, tell them it's 46664 stuff and see if they'll let you.

Its interesting, but Mark Knopfler, who used to be Dire Straits frontman, is also on tour now and they have the following on their site:

RECORDING OF GIGS AND PHOTOGRAPHY Official Statement
"The official policy of Mark and PCM is that they have no objection to fans taking photographs and making recordings of gigs on video, DAT, MD, and Walkmans providing that in doing so you do not interfere with the enjoyment of other fans. It is expressly understood that resulting photographs and/or sound recordings are purely for your personal use only, if we find anybody seeking to exploit these in any commercial sense then the privilege will be withdrawn. Feeds to soundboards will not be provided so please don't ask. Professional photographic and recording equipment should not be taken to gigs. However, there are a number of venues which, irrespective of the policy of the artist or artist's management, do not allow photography or recording. Such venues will not permit cameras or recording equipment to be taken into the concert hall. In these cases, Mark and PCM will respect the policy of the venues. We recommend that you check the policy of the venue before taking cameras and recording equipment to gigs."

So there are acts out there who do not mind audience recordings, which I think is great ! Whish Queen would do that as well...

Page And Plant allowed taping of their shows in '96 and '98.

If someone wants to tape / video something badly enough, they will.

"yeah but i wud of been able to come home after and watch it agen and agen cos it proably be the last time i see Queen perform wont it! yeah im only 17 but its probably goin to be their final tour! so i wud of like to come home and just keep watchin that concert knowing i saw them and i can relive that time! "

"Yes, but I would have been able to come home afterwards and watch it again and again because it would probably be the last time I see Queen perform, wouldn't it? Yes, I'm only 17, but it's probably going to their final tour! So, I would have liked to have been able to come home and just keep watching that concert knowing I saw them and can relive that time!"

Spot the difference...

More seriously (is anything more serious than this allegedly fully educated individual being almost old enough to vote????), Brian's live video was edited, thus keeping the bootleg versions alive. Ditto the Tribute show. They're only making "selected tracks" available for download. And this insistance that bootlegs = pirates is insulting.

Good point, P_G :-) I don't know if some people are stupid or just pretend they're stupid but if it's impossible for them to write a correct sentence, then they shouldn't write anything at all. This is not an English forum, it's an international forum so please, try to use proper English and don't confuse people from other countries.

Now seriously: it would be great if the band allowed people to record / take photos but I don't care that much about it. If I want to record or if I want to take photos, I WILL find a way to do it. It's just that in some venues one has to be more careful. But I will be VERY surprised if this won't be the most bootlegged Queen tour ever. Three days after Brixton and I already know of six different audio/video recordings - and I didn't even search for this kind of info! That will be the same at each venue.
