NO, THIS IS NOT GREEN. I THINK THIS IS SOME OTHER SONG. CHECK OUT THIS INFO FROM RIEN'S SITE "MERCURY PARADISE": Wreckage make several attempts at "Green", before switching to another song, obviously a Freddie-composed number, which is difficult to identify (but could be "Blag-A-Blues") from its lyrics because the band were interrupted before they reached the chorus.

"Whoever we were sharing the flat with came in and complained that it was one o'clock in the morning," remembers Richard Thompson. "So Freddie stopped singing." And there ended the last and certainly most important pre-Queen recording. One well-heeled collector will have the chance to hear the tape for himself when it comes up for auction at Christie's on 6th June.
LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!
B.T.W. IF IT'S POSSIBLE SOMEONE COULD UPLOAD MONTREAL 78 AS RAPID-SHARE FILES? THANKS

Well it sure sounds like a Wreckage rehearsal, while it has the same "hand on knees-clapping" as in Green. But the lyrics and melody are different as far as I can hear. It starts with "there's a place I have been and a face I have seen...etc" and that's not in Green.
Correct me if I'm wrong, of course.
This must be another demo and I might think this sounds better than the Green recording.

Mercuryworks: "...It infact is Green tAKE 4 To be exact..."

There is no "Green" Take 4. There never was. There is one long track called "Green" which lasts about 10 minutes. The bits we hear are the bits between conversation.

I wish people would stop making things up so that they sound more authoritive than they really are.

Wreckage: Unreleased Home Demos, Freddie’s Flat, Barnes, 1969
Christie’s Pop And Guitars Auction, Thursday 6th June 1996. Richard Thomson: Lot 153 sold £4,800. Bought by Queen Productions Ltd – John S. Stuart, Record Collector, 11th June 1996.
Green (Rehearsals & Versions)

ARMANDO MARTINEZ: "NO, THIS IS NOT GREEN... One well-heeled collector will have the chance to hear the tape for himself when it comes up for auction at Christie's on 6th June".

Well - actually it is Green (see above), and I also think you are nine years out of date. Queen Productions bought this tape in 1996, and I can not see them putting it up for auction.

Thanks for helping us out, John.
But it still sounds a bit different from Green, but if that was 10 minutes it could be the song.
Anyway.. I think this demo sounds better than the "Green" we have.

Can anyone also tell me - was the master for the 1984 Thames Recording from 1967 also included in Richard Thompson's 'Lot 153'- and was this therefore ALSO bought by Queen productions?

Thanks in advance, I'm simply wondering if Queen Productions (or related) bought this item.

Cheers,

How different do those songs sound John? Have you heard them? you say
"Christie’s Pop And Guitars Auction, Thursday 6th June 1996. Richard Thomson: Lot 151 sold £2,800. Bought by Queen Productions Ltd – John S. Stuart, Record Collector, 11th June 1996."
Does that mean you bought them? or are you reporting that Queen LTD bought them? If so, why is Queen LTD buying other artist music? or is some Queen Music mixed in the lot? what do these companines do with other artist music when they buy them in these so called auction lots? destory, save or send this back to whom ever made it?
Sorry so many question's, just something I'd like to know.

wstüssyb: "How different do those songs sound John... are you reporting that Queen LTD bought them... why is Queen LTD buying other artist music?"

There are no major variations from the original versions - they are cover versions after all. The only thing which would help these covers stand out from the crowd are Brian's unique red special guitar solos.

I did not purchase, I was reporting that Queen Productions bought the master reel. The reason that they were bought by QP was to keep the reel out of the public domain. They are after all, a record of the music of Brian May, and I guess he wants to keep all copyright controls over his material.
