I've been out of the loop for a while now and I was wondering if Queen was going to release another DVD-A anytime soon. I left off on the Game.
If anyone has any info that'd be great.
Thanks,
Carlos

It has been confirmed that A Day At The Races will be the next DVD-A. However, there is no information about the release date. It's going to be 2006 I think, with the current tour DVD and Greatest Hits III sweetening the long time.

I've just upgraded my studio speakers from a 4.0 system to a 5.1 setup and began with the obvious choice... BoRhap.

I listened on my newly setup 5.1 speakers and it sounds absolutely amazing. I thought I knew what it was like before, but now... it's really different!

I then listened to the Game DVD-A in full and also liked a lot of that one. It's quite a bit better with the 5.1 studio speakers. Really allows things to be hammered home more.

I hope to listen to the other DVD-A in full (ANATO) and will move through the surround dvds I have. Now, this is good.

Peace,
Adam.

They announced ADATR was to be the next dvd-a
Then came the Tour...

I assume its (sadly) been postponed for a while.
Can't see it happening this year... maybe 2006?

A shame really because the two DVD-As were simply awesome. It made listening to the albums again a new experience.

No to SACD. Why not? You'll have to ask them.

Adam.

SACD sucks.

They should re-release all the Queen albums on DualDisc format instead, with the DVD sides remixed in 5.1 DTS. Now THAT would generate more sales than stand-alone DVD-Audio discs

NO DualDisc is bad news!
There have been a lot of compatibility problems with DualDiscs being too thick to play in a wide variety of cd players (both in home and car cd players). Another thing is that the one side is a DVD-Video/Audio which will play music videos or concerts but rarely features a hi-resolution 5.1 mix, while the other side is simply a straight up, regular cd stereo mix, not Hi-resolution audio. The prices of these discs has also been considerably higher and not really worth the price.
The last, somewhat minor, problem that also comes to mind is that since its a dual-sided disc, either side is very prone to getting scratched.

I, personally, could care less about these dual-format discs. Or cd for that matter. Can't we move on with the dvd-a format now? Better sound, more playback options, possible extra content, etc.

Cd is pretty past it these days and yet the new formats don't get the backing they deserve. Instead, like a bunch of greedy buggers they push the one that makes the money - cd. Forcing us to stick with the safe option. I'm sure they could care less about a better format if it means killing the cd off.

Wouldn't it be great to leave cds behind? And yes, I realise that not everyone has the equipment to play the dvd format. But just remember, that's where cd started, also. These things have to start somewhere and it doesn't have to mean the death of cd so soon. But cd should be phased out before the decade is out. I'm getting increasingly bored with its limited potential.
I don't remember the last time I created a music cd for myself. In fact, just the other day I didn't copy a cd to my Hi-MD player, no... I put my Live At The Bowl dvd into the drive and put that on my Hi-MD for playback!

Like I mentioned in an earlier post - the sonical detail in the BoRhap surround mix blew me away in comparison with the cd. There's a cleaner and more detailed sound to listen to. I know I want more of that.

Peace,
Adam.

i'd love to hear the innuendo album in dvd-a!!!! but at the rate there releasing them it'll be years away:(
imo and dont forget i predicted a queen/rogers live dvd at the first anouncement of the tour when most were saying it would be earls court dvd! i deffo think there'll be a full studio album of new material from queen+rogers and after that they'll start really churning out the real queen stuff, its like there just releasing bits and bobs at the mo just to keep the die hard queen fans sweet till they get this collaboration and musical out the way.. or i could be wrong and this could be the first of many tours with rogers hmmmm

I'm with Adam on this.

I rarely play CDs these days. They just don't compare to DVDAs or even some of the better SACDs.

Of all the 'exciting new formats' that have been thrust upon us over the years CD is th eonly one that I have been unimpressed with. It never did match the quality of my old turntable but when i Fist heard NATO on DVDA....well, no turning back!
