I'm adopted. And for the first time in my life, on Thursday evening, I'm going to meet someone who is actually biologically related to me. I've been in contact through e-mail with my birth father, who, up until a couple weeks ago, I didn't know *anything* about. I didn't even know if he was still alive. But through a post-adoption agency, we found one another.

Can anyone else relate to this with their own experiences? Or if not, anyone have any suggestions of questions to ask? (I don't think he likes Queen, but he's apparently a huge Sinatra fan)

I'm incredibly nervous, and don't know what to expect. I don't know how I'll react. I'm almost creeped out by the idea that someone else might look like me, since I've gone my whole life accepting that there was no such person, as far as I needed to care. He seems like a nice guy, as much as you can tell through e-mail, anyway. I've already found out a lot about my heritage, which I've wondered about for ages.

And he has two daughters, 3 and 4... I've never had sisters before, just an older brother... weirdness.

I wish you good luck and good future relations.

About what to ask, you could contact the agency and see if they have any suggestions (since this is their business, you'd think they'd have some resource such as this, and if not, suggest they do).

Really, just stay calm and be yourself. That's the most sound advice I can come up with.

Again, good luck! :D
