A fantastic idea, which would have worked so much better had both songs been the same speed! I can now go to bed and dream of Freddie and Brian singing it on stage.... oh, if only! :(

How do you run a vqf file?

Now this is the sort of thing I was talking about in an earlier thread, because this is a good idea, but, the actual "production" is quite basic - for a song with so much potential.

There are at least two good Brian May instrumental versions - one guitar, the other piano. So that should provide a solid base.

If Brian's voice could be technically "cancelled out" (ie: Acapella'd) then that could provide one part of the duet, which could be "dropped" into an instrumental track. If the same was possible for Freddie, that would form the basis of an excellent "electronic duet"

Otherwise, the acappella'd Brian Track could be dropped into an existing Freddie version - so a duet could be formed that way too.

Speeds could be eq'd in that one voice slightly slowed - while the other slighty sped up, would re-create the Beatles "Strawberry Fields" affect.

Of course, one does not need to stick to such a rigid format, as with the basic building blocks being released - it means that new "samples" or instrumental bits could also be added to the equation!

However, I do not have the technical ability to pull this off, so perhaps I should not be making such suggestions. Nevertheless, I think this is a good idea - crying out to be revisited properly, and the sort of thing which could potentially replace tracks like "New York (At last)" or "State Of Shock".

Again, I have no right to make such ideas - and perhaps I deserve to be told to piss-off, but certainly, an entertaining, inventive, and REALISTIC duet - would be something that I would perhaps pay to hear.

I would certainly interested to read any replies.

As I understand it, currently it's not easy to isolate a lead vocal track with the software available (although I would love to be corrected on that), as there is always an audible residue of the music in the background. This TMLWKY 'duet' might be quite easily possible, given a 5.1 channel mix, where the vocal is isolated to the centre channel, as with Play The Game. This could probably be quite successfully mixed into one of Brian's instrumental versions. Let's hope it's on GVHIII!

Run a Google search for a program called VQF-player, it's free.

How's this? -
Queen ver = http://rapidshare.de/files/1906460/expose.mp3.html
Brian ver (studio) = http://rapidshare.de/files/1906549/expose3.mp3.html
Brian ver (live) = http://rapidshare.de/files/1906474/expose2.mp3.html

Courtesy of Audition Pro's Center Channel Extractor plus some slight gating. Bit edgy, but not really the final effect. Still, it's not bad if it would be used inside a remix.

Peace,
Adam.

I really like this mix. I think it would've sounded amazing if it'd been recorded like this originally.

I think it's great but dosen't anyone else think Brian is really straining on the 'Too much love will kill you', part at the end?

Yeah, but that's nothing to do with the remix. Brian's vocals are 'strained' a lot of the time! :)

Technically speaking, Freddie strained a lot too (hence his nodes in his throat). Of course I happen to think Freddie's voice sounded perfect when he did that. Brian doesn't sound as nice when he strains - but that isn't to discount his abilities, he's a fine singer.
I like him better in Resurrection.

Boys, this is one of the notice boards I've only just started visiting.

I'm amazed at the wee sparks of creativity out there. Have enjoyed this one immensely - well done, and keep it up.

Sounds REALLY well. I had forgotten how well the song actually sounded.

Or, alternatively, you could download dbPowerAMP and convert the VQF file to an MP3 or WMA.

Why does it start with '39?

That isn't 39, I don't think. Have you ever heard the Brian May version of TMLWKY? It has a vocal overdub intro. If I recall, this remix just uses the intro and first verse from Brian's version, then mixes it with the Queen one for the rest of the track.

beacuse this mix uses the version of TMKWKY of the concert of the Brian May Band at Palace Theater Hollywood 1993, where '39 is intro of TMKWKY. In general, in Brian's Back To The Light tour, '39 was instead used as intro of Let Your Heart Rule Your Head

Ooooh. My mistake - I'm thinking of a different mix obviously. I've got a couple of TMLWKY's on here at the moment.... heh.
