My favourite has to be the original two radio series of the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy. They were way better than the books that were based on them. Also the Goon Show. I love anything to do with Spike Milligan, and these shows showed him at his creative peak.

How about Radio 4's version of "Lord Of The Rings". Thirteen one hour episodes (I think) which for me was better than the films because you had to use your imagination to visualize the scenes.
