If Freddie Mercury were alive and well, and if John Deacon was still with Queen, what music style would you think they would play and why?

I think they'd play more lighter stuff but still play plenty of rock. I'd hate to see tham play some songs like some of that total garbage they call music going around today.

What do you think?

I concur.

I think we'd hear some more innovative and creative stuff from Queen, seeing as they'd already have cemented their presence in the world market.

Of course, if the Frederator never had AIDS, then we'd be clamoring to get the live bootlegs from the "Miracle on Earth" and Innuendo tours.

I totally agree. I think they would be rockin'around the world, only lighter. The so called 'music' of today is just garbage IMO.

Wats IMO stand for?

Well... I think they won't be experimenting too much, and the music would remain the same. I think that if Freddie didn't die, Queen would still be a top act and they'll be touring the world :D.

I agree, although I do think the pattern of album - tour - break/solo album - album - tour would have continued....

I feel they would have also continued on as before. New album, tour, etc. with Freddie and other band members doing solo projects.

How I wish it were true..............

no chance - freddie was sick of the album-tour-album-tour-ad nauseum cycle

he didn't want to do it anymore

i think they'd have ALL gone their seperate ways by now

freddie would be experimenting with different artists/styles
Brian would be collaborating with various axe players
Roger would be in his sixth band since leaving queen
...and John would STILL be retired...some things never change huh?

I think that's a bit closer to what would really be going on. I'm sort of glad about that because it would worry me that they might change in their style of music like a lot of bands have and they might turn out like some of the bands out now - crap. It'd be dissappointing..

I think they would be bigger and better than ever before. Bigger than U2.

i know most people will think it was because of the whole hiv/aids thing...but this thread was a "what if"? ...and i think that freddie was sick to the back teeth of the viscious cycle - which is why i added ad-nauseum

let's face it, how many bands did a constant cycle of album-tour-album-tour-album for 14 years with only ONE YEAR off? - none who maintained their original line up - that's who

heck...hard to say....I think some of the songs on Miracle and Innuendo were great because of the knowledge that Freddie was dying so these albums probably wouldn't have been nearly as good if he was completely healthy...but let's say a Miracle happened and he recovered...then I think you'd get more of the same good stuff because of the new lease on life....Brian would still write rocking tracks and Freddie would sing them superbly....they'd venture into a bit of Rap (all Roger's idea) like he did on Shove It only 100x better...probably more like Aerosmith....I think all would be better because of the new lease on life...but I think it would still be classic rock...and hopefully if Freddie wanted to venture off too far...they'd make him make a solo album instead of recreating a "Hot Space".....I think they'd only release albums every 4 or 5 years though....and John may have given up touring....

I also think Freddie wouldn't spend his time as a musician in album-tour-album-tour-ad cycle anymore. Well...otoh I think he loved live stages as well as studio works, so he wouldn't stop his career as a frontman with different style from the ones of '70s and '80s.

I dont think that assessment is right at all. I think Brian said that a few times in interviews because he wanted to mask what was really going on, not the fact that Freddie reallly didnt want to tour no more> You can look at the performance videos from the miracle and even headlong and see that he probably wanted to be on stage.
