Pretty certain it will be televised. I know it will be for the UK, at least.

From The Live 8 Official Website (which is posted on my blog...plug!)

http://www.live8live.com/

Click on "The Concerts" and then on the left hand side clock on "TV & Radio", and "Watch Online"

or here it is...copied from the Live 8 Website:

"TV and radio"
"The LIVE 8 concerts taking place around the world will be watched and listen to by more than 2 billion people."

"In the UK, the BBC is the host broadcaster for LIVE 8 London with coverage across BBC ONE, TWO and THREE, with radio broadcasts on Radio's 1 and 2, the BBC World Service and across the BBC's regional stations."

"Partner broadcasters in Europe and America will also be working to bring this huge international event to the world."

"Watch online
Join the global experience: watch the LIVE 8 concerts live and on demand, only on aolmusic.com"

"You can find exclusive live coverage--including behind-the-scenes tidbits, special blogs, and all the performances--during and after the concerts on July 2nd. And log onto aolmusic.com now for breaking concert news leading up to the event."

....Also Guys Live 8 will be Webcast Live July 2, For Free on AOL, and you can watch it Live on July 2nd, and CONTINUE to watch it for free for SEVERAL WEEKS AFTERWARDS, archived on AOL. See news article from pollstar.

http://www.pollstar.com/news/viewnews.pl?NewsID=4076

"This time you have a third option. You can watch the performances on your computer as AOL streams all the music to your desktop for free. What's more, AOL will also archive the shows for up to six weeks, meaning that you can pretty much spend most of July, as well as a week or two in August, watching Live 8 until the cows come home."

I read in the Sydney Morning Herald that Molly Meldrum wanted to get an Aussie version of Live 8 going, and had two backers - but the TV stations here in Australia have said they will not show the whole thing, and only a "HIGHLIGHTS PACKAGE" on the Sunday night - of the whole event. Due to this, the financial backers have now pulled out as they were only interested if the whole event was going to be shown (for advertising reasons), and so there will be no Aussie's involved and no full showing of the event on TV - only a highlight show of the event will be shown on Channel 9.

It has been announced that the Dutch TV will broadcast it live, so I suppose that means it'll be televised.

Do you know which Dutch TV-channel? Thanks.

For the UK I 'think' it will be on BBC2 until 4:30pm, because of the Wimbledon Ladies Final, and then on BBC1 until 3am. I don't know about BBC3's schedule.

The BBC link says Queen...and The Who as well...are.

But the official Live 8 website, which updates every day, with additional artists and changes, which I also reflect on my blogs (SEE BELOW)..as YET..does NOT yet have Queen, and The Who on it.

The BBC link also has some errors in that it says The Cure & Muse are playing London. NO...The Cure and Muse are playing Paris at the Palais De Versailles.

Now that does not mean though, that the BBC link is wrong..but until it's confirmed by Geldof on his site...wait for OFFICIAL LIVE 8 confirmation and Queen confirmation, is all I can tell you.

The press said for an entire month BEFORE it was confirmed by Geldof, that Pink Floyd were reuniting to play Live Aid...then an entire month later, Geldof and Floyd confirmed it...
...

...But...The Spice Girls and the press also said for an entire month that they were reuniting to play Live Aid...and an entire month later...Geldof said absolutely NOT, they could not perform at Live Aid.

Also 50 Cent..who already was confirmed to perform in the USA leg/concert, cancelled last Thursday...

...and 2 artists that had NO rumors of them playing at all, were JUST added to the USA concert...Destiny's Child and Linkin Park.

MTV, VHI to Show Much of Live 8 Concert

06/22/2005 4:09 PM, AP
David Bauder

MTV and VH1 will telecast eight hours of the Live 8 concerts on July 2, the networks said Wednesday. The performances, featuring artists U2, Coldplay, Madonna, Dave Matthews Band, Jay-Z and Destiny's Child among many others, are being held in eight cities to raise awareness of poverty in Africa.

The telecast is a repeat performance for MTV, which showed the Live Aid concerts two decades ago. Like Live Aid, the Live 8 performances are being organized by Bob Geldof.

America Online, which owns the U.S. rights to the concerts and will beam them on the Internet, is also negotiating with ABC for a prime-time telecast on July 2 following the cable TV coverage.

MTV, VH1 and MTV's college network mtvU will be on the air with the same feed from noon to 8 p.m. EDT that day, switching back and forth from different sites and also presenting packaged reports, like a look back at Live Aid.

Related networks CMT and VH1 Classic will air concert highlights the next day featuring artists geared to their audiences.

It will be the longest period MTV has gone live to cover an event since Woodstock '99, the network said.

XM Satellite Radio will carry the concerts live from Philadelphia, London, Paris, Berlin and Rome, America Online also announced on Wednesday. The Premiere Radio Networks will also carry concert coverage and performances tailored to three different radio formats — urban, rock and pop.

Internationally, the MTV, VH1 and Music Factory networks will show hourly bulletins about the show.

Everybody.....go on aol.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The TV (VH1 & MTV) in the USA is only showing the Philly concert from 12-8.

I am watching, London, Paris, Berlin, & the global feed right now on AOL.com.....

REM just finished in London.

Unfortunately I missed the first hour with the openimg w/ U2 and Paul McCartney and Elton John & Coldplay, But I had a shitload of stuff to do so I didn't go online until 11:30am EST USA time.

But AOL is MUCH better...you can click from one city to another, not miss any acts in the 4 main cities.

Only problem is the visual feed conks out every now & then...but at least you can catch the 4 main concerts all day...and if an act is on in 1 city you do NOT like, or there is a delay due to setting up for another band, just go click on another city.

The act in London just finished so....

I'm in Paris right now...

Go on www.aol.com....the links for the world audience are there.
