I love this album and I think its cover is absolutely great.
But does anyone know a link or something to the original photo by Frank Kelly Freas, which inspired Queen for their cover of NOTW album ? I can't find it anywhere and I want to see it...

yes it was plain to see, yes it was meant to be...

I read somewhere that Roger saw it on the cover of a 50's science fiction book.. It took me ages to figure out that it was Queen on the cover

Roger saw it on a comic book that he remembered from when he was a kid.

I have a print of the original signed by Frank Kelly Freas.

Heard Frank Kelly Freas just passed away I think only some months ago. Thought I remember Brian posting a very lovely tribute to Frank Kelly Freas on his website.

Really? That's really sad. He was a great artist.

I was VERY fortunate enough a few years ago to get a copy of the Astounding Science Fiction magazine where the robot first graced the cover. I then made contact with Kelly Freas' second wife because she answered all his e-mails for him. She and I had a nice cyber-friendship for about a year and a half. I sent the magazine to her to have Kelly sign it on the cover and then she sent it back to me about a week later. According to her, they both would attend science fiction conventions and sign copies of his art prints and I think at the time she was working on a book about him and his work. The book was released not too long ago. Originally Kelly was living in Virginia but spent he later years in California. He did pass away in January and I have yet to contact her to offer my sympathies but will very soon. My magazine is one of my most treasured Queen related items and is nicely displayed in my home.

It is a cool cover.

I also have a print of the original picture signed by Frank Kelly Freas. I actually bought it fairly recently (about 6 months ago)no long before he died. Y

You may still be able to get them if you seach the web. Can't remember the site I used though.

What I did what call up Frank Kelly Freas on my search and the first thing that came up was his official website. He has a load of prints for sale on there including the robot. Before he died he was signing them for about $20.00.
