Sorry Arlene, but The Cure sucks donkey balls and Robert Smith is fat prick has been. All he does is badmouth artists that have achieved more than he has, and it's clearly the man is just jealous that someone is more successful than he is. Then he'd rant about artists like Boy George and George Michael for making pop music when he's done pop music as well.

Smashing Pumpkins on the other hand took the whole underground alternative scene of the 90s to a new level. Arguably 'Siamese Dream' and 'Mellon Collie' are some of the best albums of the decade, and rather than bash other artists, Billy Corgan would open his mouth to praise those who influenced him, including The Cure. Perhaps Fat Bob should follow his example.

I do agree that his jealous streak can spew venom at other artists (Queen included which I have yet to forgive my dear Bob Smith for), BUT...

.....Elton John has spewed TERRIBLE venom at every artist on the planet this year! What artist hasn't been a target for Elton this year? And Elton John is a superstar, so what does he have to be jealous of?....

..Some artists are just jealous and BITCHY divas. Bob is one of them.

.....Oh and Bob USED to be HOT and gorgeous before he Blew up from beer...

......but seems to me..there is a formerly HOT, gorgeous drummer from Queen...er..Roger Taylor..who BLEW up from his drinking!

But what can I say. I LOVE The Cure...and now they have switched from London..to Paris for Live 8...so if I watch it on TV, how do I get to see The Cure..you know mostly London & Philadelphia will get the TV coverage. :(

I don't care if Mondays blue, Tuesdays grey and Wednesday too, Thursday I don't care about you..but Friday I'm In Love!

Yeah some example Corgan is.

He's BOTH a hypocrite, and a whiny weesel who actually shared with the world his documents of TRASHING his former bandmmates.

The press and I have been following (and the press has been having a field day with)
Billy Corgan's much publicized, dramatized, diary/blog/website on myspace.com, where he has been spewing poisonous venom at all of his Smashing Pumpkins bandmates AND his Zwan bandmates, calling them all hopeless, pathetic losers, drug addicts, liars, unprofessional, he NEVER EVER wants to work with them ever again, etc. you name it.

Now...when Corgan's solo record STIFFS/FLOPS...all of a sudden he takes out ads in the Chigago Sun Times and The Chicago Tribuune stating how much he misses and loves the Pumpkins and wants to reform.

What a weiner!

You're actually right about that one Arlene, but I think Fat Bob is still worse.

What I never liked about Billy Corgan was that he was a control freak. In some ways you could compare it to Axl Rose for becaming a dictator of his own band, but unlike Axl, Billy Corgan actually was responsible about handling the affairs of his own band. The reason why Billy had so many feuds with his own band members was mainly to drug use, which he felt were destroying his band. At what level was the drug issue as bad to motivate Billy Corgan to make tough decisions against his band members is something that I just can't tell.

What's cool about The Cure (take NOTE OF THIS QPL)!!!!
is that all this year, Robert Smith himself (not the record company, not some archivist, but Bob Smith himself)..

..personally spent all this past year going through all The Cure archive tapes, be they demos, B sides, ouutakes, foreign releases, etc.

and this monthe he re-released the 3 Cure seminal albums
''Seventeen Seconds'', ''Faith'', ''Pornography'', each remastered (BY BOB SMITH), each with a 2nd disc of demos, outtakes, B sides, each with never before released photos from Bob Smith's personal collection and notes all by Smith.

Now I hear they are going to do this with the rest of The Cure catalog.

Also, in 2002, Bob released (QPL TAKE NOTE AGAIN!!!!) the Massive, extensive BOXED set, ''Join The Dots'', a box set comprised soley of never ever before released music, demos, ouutakes, B-sides, movie soundtrack work only available on the soundtracks...personally compiled, produced, by Bob Smith.

I really like both bands, but I'm going to have to go with The Smashing Pumpkins. Siamese Dream is such a great album and Billy Corgan is an amazing lyricist.

Oh I love both bands so much but.... it has to be Smashing Pumpkins for me. I wanted to be D'arcy so much when i was a teenager and i guess she was the one who really made me want to take up the Bass(of course John/Another one bites the dust had his/it's influence to). Both singers have such distintive voices and both know who to write a good moany song...God bless them both. And i really do hope the smashing Pumpkins reform cause i just seen Billy play last Friday and he rocked. xx aisha xx

about that box set, and correct me if I'm wrong cause I just want to find this out, how long does The Cure exsist now as a band, cause making a box set containing 10 years and 10 years where demos and b-sides can be safed easier,

is easier than making a box set of 30 years where you have to really dig up the demo tapes if they aren't damaged already and you have to make sure that you don't destroy the tapes when you remaster the songs.

Besides I don't know if Robert Smith was actually musically active during the days he made the albums of unreleased songs, but I know Brian and Roger were, and well if you take an archivist like Greg Brooks, you just know things can take a little longen than planned.

The Cure have been around almost as long as Queen. Robert Smith formed the band in 1976.

So The Cure have been around as a band 29 years.

They released their first record ''Three Imaginary Boys'' in 1979. They have released at least 17 albums, not including EP's and collections, and in 2004 released a NEW album on Geffen to rave reviews and an International Tour, which included, the UK, Europe, Mexico, the United States, tons of TV show spots in the USA, and in 2004, they HEADLINED both the prestigious USA's, Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and the WHFS Music Festival.

Also, like Queen, they have spent most of their 29 years as a band touring around the globe Internationally in the UK, Europe, Japan, Mexico, South America, North America, the United States.

They have releaased a load of videos, live concerts on DVD and CD, including 3 special shows from over the years in...Detroit, USA, Paris, France, and Berlin.

Also....Robert Smith is renowned as a brilliant solo singer, songwriter and guitarist, (as so he should be), I love his guitar work.

Bob Smith is also very prolific and has continued doing side projects, solo work, and working with other bands...all while still working with The Cure.

Bob Smith also spent much of the late 1970's and early 1980's playing LEAD guitar and touring for Siousxie and The Banshees, while STILL regularly leading, composing, recording, and performing/touring with The Cure.

......So NOW Bob Smith is also currently remastering and re-releasing his 1980's side project known as The Glove, and its record, ''Blue Sunshine'' with longtime friend and collaborator Steve Severin of Siousxie and the Banshees, with demos, outtakes, etc. TOO!...

ok then I take back my words and say that QPL are just dickheads

LOL!

Why don't Brian and Roger go hands on and sack their so called archivist, and do the work themselves, like Bob Smith does.

They should personally go through their demos, outtakes, B Sides, concerts, etc. remaster it to their own satisfaction and quality standards, and RELEASE IT!

as box sets, as 2 disc special editions.

The Cure arent' the only band to do this.

The Allman Brothers Band is renowned for doing this too! I HAVE their box set, ''Dreams'' and it's fantastic.

How about Eric Clapton, who has released at least 3 Box sets. Crossroads, More Crossroads (something like that I forget the title)..

..and an entire Special Box Set soley devoted to all of the outtakes and sessions of the album ''Layla and Ohter Assorted Love Songs''.

Because Brian and Roger have to take part at EVERY bloody charity gig.

The Cure do TONS of charity gigs too..especially for....AIDS!, and also for special children's foundations too.

It's not a matter of not having time, it's a matter of not wanting to do it. Plain and simple.

You have tons of music artists who are much more active and still put out Box Sets and Special Editions reissues for their fans, and they PERSONALLY supervise and oversee the projects themselves.

Geez, up until the tour this year, Brian and Roger weren't even doing anything but being stay at home family men. That was the PERFECT time to sort through their tapes and start putting out quality box sets and special releases.

you know between The FM tribute and the 2005 tour they did 2 tours each released Made In heaven, Champions of the world, Queen Rocks and GH 3, they have written music for their own albums.

+ the DVDs and the DVD-A's

Brian made an album for a movie called Furia, both did several guest appearances.

so it's not that they both just sat on their arse doing nothing

Don't forget their solo albums 'Happiness', 'Another World', and 'Electric Fire'.

Maybe what I said came out wrong..sorry. I didn't mean that Brian and Roger weren't musically active or working.

I know they did their solo projects, Queen's ''Made In Heaven'', and put together and produced things like the WWRY stage musical, which took alot of time, work, and trying to get financial backing as well, etc.

BUT...for the Queen+Paul Rodgers tour, in interviews Brian especially has said, that since Queen stopped touring and putting out new records,
both Brian and Roger have had a more stay at home family life, with more time and stability to go to work, usually in the UK or nearby, and at the end of the day, go home and be with their families and have a more 9-5 kind of work schedule, more routine, more time and flexibility, less stress.

So..they had the time and mental state or fram of mind to really sort throught their tapes.

....AND if they feel it is too much work to sort through their tapes, then instead of using their
''official'' archivist, Greg Brooks...

..Brian and Roger should instead do what many artists do, who do not have the time or do not want to deal with the time and stress to compile box sets and special 2 disc editions...

...outsource to MAJOR record industry PROS who SPECIALIZE in doing ONLY box sets, reissues, never before released material, special editions, ALL OFFICIALLY AUTHORIZED and EXECUTIVELY PRODUCED, BY THE ARTISTS such as,...

1) Warner Strategic Marketing/Rhino Records...(who did Live Aid FOR Bob Geldof and did an outstanding and wonderful job, The Monterey Pop Festival, and TONS of great music artists)...

2) Sundazed Records/Sony Legacy (who have done Box sets and special editions on everyone from Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, to Stevie Ray Vaughan)

3) Universal Special Projects (formerly Polygram), who did all 3 of the Eric Clapton Box Sets, the Allman Brothers Band Box set, the Bee Gees box set, and tons of other great artists...
