I just caught Freddie's voice going completely out of tune on the Earl's Court '77 performance of 'Death On Two Legs'.

Pay attention to the part where he says...

" You're just an overgrown SCHOOHHOL BOHHHY!! "

all singers make mistakes live.
it is unavoidable when singing loud rock music. and impossible [especially when doing long tours] to be in perfect tuning all the time. they are using their body, so it is like a sportsman at the end of a long season, their bodies are knackered

i personally have never heard a better live rock singer than freddie mercury.

picking out one or two lines where a singer is out of tune is rather petty in my opinion.

Even at Live Aid, on WATC, on the end chorus, he goes out of tune. I notice it every time. But his overall performance of that song, and the entire set list, his voice, showmanship...all make that a momentary miniscule molehill.

You bastards.

Freddie was the very definition of perfection! How dare you criticize him! YOU try getting up in front of thousands of people every night and try not to fuck up! Good lord, you'd think you people never sang in a rock band before! You should be burned alive at the stake! I hope you...

Eh, my sarcasm wore out.

The occasional unexpected 'yodle' must be every professional singers nightmare, but it happens, and they forget it and get on with the show. Freddie was one of the greatest vocalists of our time, but everyone fucks up once in a while.

The worst one I heard Freddie do was on the original boot of Milton Keynes, during Fat Bottoms, when he went right off during the line "Ain't no beauty queens in this lOOOcality". Fortunately, it was repaired for the official release.

Yodeling was completely prohibited for rock/pop singers until Jewel came along...

...then it was OK to yodel as long as there were a nice pair of melons to look at.

And there are people who think Earls Court is Queen's best performance.

not exactly - there are great performances
but earls court probably has the best sound quality....and the added nervousness of the band coupled with an interesting setlist makes it a great boot to have - but not their best performance

Everyone fucks up on stage sometimes... if one or 2 mishaps = sucks then...

Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger (out of tune all the fucking time), Pete Townsend, Kiss (whole band sings like dog shit live), Pink Floyd (Gilmour's vocals only sound good live when compared to Waters), Lynyrd Skynyrd (always drunk), Creed (self explanitory), Pearl Jam (see Creed) , Ozzy Osbourne (can't quadruple track is weak voice live), and Steve Tyler all eat donkey balls.

I have seen footage of fuck-ups from these listed bands in the last 3 months.

I can't believe the Stones are touring again... for the last 20 years, live, Mick and Keif sound like they are playing 2 different songs...every song.
