from a 'royalties' point of view it is certainly interesting
okay - so from a performance point of view the split is even amongst those on stage
but from a song-writing royalies angle, my 'Brian May is Removing Traces of FM' theory stands up

song-writing royalties for this 2 cd pack

FM - 5 songs
BM - 9
RT - 4
JD - 2
PR - 6

Martin, thanks for pointing that out. I wasn't even noticing. I just went back to check the track listing. Yep. Mr. May hears the mightiest and loudest sound of Ca-Ching!

Brian's gonna make the Forbes list with Oprah if he keeps this up. Might be good for his bank account, but it's lousy from a creative point of view...regarding Freddie especially.

Martin, I copied my post from the tour thread about this album's title. Think you might enjoy this!

They could have called it ''Breakfast Of Champions'' but I guess having to get the legal rights and pay royalties to Wheaties was out of the question!

Actually, I have an idea! Lightbulb! Brian LOVES making money right!

When they release the CD and DVD, he should do what Star Wars did, have the Wheaties company PAY HIM roylaties to put his face on the cereal box to cross promote ''Return Of The Champions''.

Plaster his mug on everything from pop tarts to Slurpees like Star Wars did, and everytime a box is sold with his face on the box, he hears the mighty sound of Ca-CHING!

'Let There Be Gene', eh?

And that's not the finalized artwork. It says "TBC" beneath it - "to be confirmed".

'Let There Be Gene' isn't a Paul Rodgers track, Brenski

I was quietly surprised by the list of songs which have been performed on Queen's part of Freddie's Tribute: Tie Your Mother Down, I Want It All, Las Palabras De Amor, Hammer To Fall...

As much as we've all been harping on the band for their love of filthy lucre, I think the song list for this tour relflects the fact that Brian, who wrote most of Queen's heavier numbers, is from the same rock school as Paul Rodgers. Lots of A, D and E chords. Freddie wrote lots of songs that were Eb and Ab things that are hard to sing and harder to play on guitar. And his best rock songs were found on the earlier albums, which they seem to have forsaken to paly the hits instead.

You know, good times are now.

What FM songs could be included?

Somebody To Love got dropped from the Magic Tour, which only leaves 2 FM songs that are on the last tour set but not on this - SSOR, & LOTG. Neither were fully performed, and both were replacing KYA & GKR on The Works tour as token old tracks.

Look at it another way - what Queen songs (irrespective of writer) are most surprisingly missing? THis is subjective, but personally I'd say Now I'm Here is the biggest surprise omission. Now, who wrote that?

sorry but i have to disagree with this...FM's songs are getting pushed further back - until all that will be left will be the one's you can't have a queen concert without - ie BoRhap and WATC - believe me this will happen

FM had seven songs on the magic tour (icl co-writes)
he now has four
here's his totals
magic - 7
works - 11
HS -9
game (europe) - 9
crazy - 11
l/killers - 10
jazz - 8
NOTW - 11
races - 12
opera - 10

so until BHM decided to 'remove traces of Mercury, from the Queen diet' Fm was doing quite well - it's a consistent spread until this tour. When you consider that Bri writes the rockier numbers with a live feel - it's even more staggering that only now - first tour as queen after Fred's demise - that Fred's less represented on the setlist

Martin I'm Totally in agreement with you. With Freddie gone, Brian can pretty much rule the roost as the ''King'' of Queen legally, financially, creatively.

This is much like what Macca did the last few years, now that John Lennon is long passed, stating he's trying to get the entire Lennon/McCartney song publishing catalog to be restructured legally to say McCartney/Lennon...Right..

Look I admire Brian. He's a fine songwriter, musician, etc. But reality and history are what they are. I don't appreciate Brian's attempts to re-write history as HE wants it to be, for himself.

And I do NOT appreciate Brian trampling on Freddie's grave in this money grubbing ego crazy fashion. It's insulting, disrespectful and just plain wrong.

Credits for all new songs from the Miracle and on are Queen, so all members. This means that Show must go on, Days of our lives and I want it all (and probably say it's not true) are credited to all members royalty-wise.
