It is out! The news and official press release and cover shot may be seen over at-

www.brianmay.com

The book is titled Van Halen 101. It is 400 pages, 6x9 format, and retails for $28, but can be purchased at this moment for $19.95 + shipping if you go to-

www.vanhalen101book.com

According to reports and the official press release, the foreword by our Brian contains the tale/details of the 1983 Star Fleet Project that he and Eddie collaborated on. This alone makes this book a most worthy read! Brian and Queen are mentioned on the cover of the book, too.

More news - The book contains a tribute to Eddie Van Halen by over 100 of the world's greatest, including Zakk Wylde, Allan Holdsworth, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, the late Dimebag Darrell, James Hetfield, John McLaughlin, Tony Levin, Harvey "The Snake" Mandel, Henry Rollins, along with many many more!

Absolutely the man himself has his own website!!!
Just go to www.brianmay.com and see for yourself.

While over there I read the news about Brian's wonderful contribution of the foreword to the new Van Halen book. Check it out. I posted the links in my first post.

Well, keep in mind that Brian and Eddie have been close for some time now, and even collaborated on a mini-album together (Star Fleet Project, anyone?).

Absolutely correct. In fact, I was over at a Van Halen fansite after hearing the news and the word is that Brian actually talks about how the Star Fleet Project came about and what that whole experience was like during the foreword to the book!! That would be amazing, cuz I have never heard Brian talk about that before.

Also, if you go to Brian's official site, you'll see that the press release for the VH book that's posted on his site actually contains a one line excerpt from the foreword Brian May wrote. I wish I could cut and paste it over here, but I simply don't know how?!?! However, I can simply relay to you what it says:

"What a wonderful musician...absolutely the pinnacle of guitar playing in our lifetime."
-- Brian May

That is quite a compliment to Eddie from our man Brian. Absolutely incredible. I'm dying to read the entire foreword!!!

Hey. You guys have to check out this book. I'm in the industry and heard about this book from some good people and they all said 100% that is rocks. Brian May has the longest contribution in this over 400 page book. Aren't you Queeniees known for your intelligence? Paying big money to see Paul Rodgers with Queen as his backing band? I've always liked Paul Rodgers anyways. He is way respected and there could be no better frontman than him for any legendary band. He could even replace John Lennon in that one band.

SO you're saying that the foreword is over 200 pages long?

You're as clever as the man with the sartcasm bypass.

Yes, i`ve read that article too and went straight away looking for more info on VH oficial site and nothing, i even went to Guitar101 where they`re experts of the band and nothing too.

I`m glad such a book is made because Edward Van Halen is probably the most inspired guitar player ever (my opinion, of course). People usually feel amazed about Noel Gallagher (Oasis) composition abilities, but he never got close to Eddie or ever will.

Every single note from every Van Halen records were writen by the man (not the lyrics though), and he was drunk all the way through!!
God bless him...

Take care

You say you went to the official VH site? Well, best of luck with that. The people who run that site are asleep at the wheel...always. In other words, they NEVER report ANYTHING. It's pathetic. As far as Guitar101, well, perhaps they are slacking, too.

Whether this book is reported on those two sites or not is truly irrelevant cus word of this book has been reported at the big three sites: Blabbermouth, Melodic Rock and Classic Rock Revisited. Not to mention the official sites of Zakk Wylde, Steve Lukather (great guitarist and very close friend of the Van Halen brothers) and of course, our Brian's official site. I also noticed it was recently reported in the "News" over the the official site for the international Queen fanclub. Along with being reported over at Harmony Central, too. It's quite sad the official VH site makes no mention, but if you're in any way familiar with that site, it's not surprising. That band deserves someone better to run their official site. Anyhow, I can't wait to read this book and Brian's foreword!

I've seen this book blasted all over the fuckin' internet. Blabbermouth.net had it. Melodicrock.net or .com fuckin' had it, brianmay.com had it, the frigin fan club had it. I can't wait to read this book and the new information Brian gives about his time with the tappin fretboard master, EVH. For those that don't know VH, they had hits like Jump, Panama, Hot for Teacher, Dreams, Best of Both Worlds, etc., David Lee Roth was their singer... So if Arlene Weiss is reading this, I wonder if you've gone to his bar mitzvah?

Quite aware that Roth is Jewish..probably why he went BALD early (I am Jewish and most of my male Jewish friends in their 40's are BALD!)

I love both Roth VH and Hagar VH, but I prefer Roth. I feel bad that there has been so much ill will betwen Eddie with both Roth and Hagar...I love that band.

Best songs.....''Dance The Night Away'', ''Hot For Teacher'', ''I'll Wait'', ''Runnin' With The Devil'', ''Human Being'' (from the movie ''Twister''), ''Poundcake''

( Eddie is Fucking AWESOME on Poundcake!!!!!!!! )

And yes I am going to look for the book at Barnes & Noble or Borders and check it out along with Brian's foreword.

Splendid news. Just received my copy two days ago and I've been reading it like mad! The book is excellent. Of course the highlight so far was Brian's foreword. It's brilliant. Absolutely wonderful. Not only does he share his thoughts on Eddie and the band, he does indeed tell the story of his 1983 Star Fleet Project with Eddie. I had never heard or read the story of Star Fleet anywhere else before. Never! I'm quite impressed with Brian's writing abilities, and I just could not imagine a finer intro to a book than the one he put together. Cheers to Brian! And cheers to Eddie! You really deserve a book like this.
