No. Hi played copies identified by a BM 6 pence coin attached to the top of the neck of the guitar (or whatever is called). But I think he played the real one in Fat Bottomed Girls, at least it looked older than the other ones and it did not have any coin.

The one with the 6 pence is THE red special! :)

If that is the case, how can you explain that there were so many Red Special available? I think only one was made by his father. I wonder if that guitar (the original one) was ever used during the concert.

Actually, perhaps you are right! I think that I saw Brian swapping one 'six pence attached' guitar for another one, but I am now not absolutely sure, maybe that other one did not have the coin, as the FBGirls one.

Johan is correct. THE Red Special is the one with the six pence coin. The others are replicas.

Pirrakitas, he ABSOLUTELY played it during the gigs. Even made a special point of holding it out and presenting it to the audience. If interested, go to Esteban Anderson's site, www.brianmaycentral.com to see the Guild, Burns, Brian May Guitars, and other Red Special owners' lists, including several home-built models. You will see that Brian May owns several. One of his Guilds is in the Rock and Roll Hall of fame in Cleveland, Ohio . . . the heart of rock and roll is in Cleveland . . .

cheers!

Because there were so many replicas, he put a sixpence on the original to tell it apart from all the others. Look closely at the others and you'll see "Fryer" or "Guyton" on them.

Sadly BrianMayCentral.com has been down for a while :-(

Bummer! It was back up a week ago, after having been down for a long time.

Thanks for all your answers! It was just that I thought that there was more that one guitar with the six pence on during the gig, but obviously there is only one and only one RS.

I love the way someone asks a question, and then when they get a true answer, with no mocking....

they don't believe it.

It makes you wonder why I ever give anyone a straight answer.

Hey! I did not ask the question. I just answered what I thought I was right, but then I realised thank to you, people, that I was wrong with my answer.
