My review on this concert :

I think Earls Court 1977 is really great. It shows Queen in the early days with just a few (but big) hits. I DVD release could be possible. The show is good enough. Great variated setlist. Nice opening with TYMD, a good medley and some good rocksongs like Death on Two Legs, Brighton Rock and Now I’m here. Also some nice musical experimental interesting songs like Prophet’s song, Bohemian Rhapsody and Liar. A nice drumsolo in KYA. The show ends with a nice rock’ll medley with rare tracks as Lucille and SNIAFF. They have a great stage, not too big and with great lights. It really has that great seventies feeling. Their clothes are really great. It really supports the music. Roger has a very cool big drumkit. Brian has a lot of fun I guess. He plays really well. But most important : the bandmembers a clearly connected as a band and they have a lot of fun during this gig. That’s very important. The only minus point is the vocals in some songs (see the comments above). The very big greater part of the vocals are great !!! It could be really great too hear this in 5.1 DTS and to see it with great picture quality. I know that there were some problems with Freddie’s microphone but I believe that could be fixed with the modern technique.

How do you guys feel about a dvd release of Earls Court ’77 ?

I dunno, you make it sound good but not being a tremendous fan of the live shows, I'll probably wait to buy this until it exists.

I think it could be possible to restore this to it's full glory. On the other hand, I don't think QP will put that much effort in it.

They have the second night, June 7, in the vaults as well, so they could easily make a compilation of the two nights if they really wanted to. Having two nights of footage may eliminate the need to patch up one or two little parts; just pick the song from the other night!

Nice review of the concert, JDL2nd, but I think you were a bit harsh on In The Lap Of The Gods. Although their unison vocals towards the end are off key, Freddie sings one of the greatest and most emotional versions of the song ever. I wouldn't give The Prophet's Song 4 stars either, since Freddie goes on far too long in the middle. I really prefered the 75-76 versions with the delay, a la Brian's solo, rather than the electronic effects used in 77-78.

You missed Stone Cold Crazy, so I guess you have one of the old copies missing the song. There's definitely a better bootleg video out there, if you want to track it down.

Bob, is it confirmed that this 2nd night is still in the vaults? I can imagine it was filmed, but it may have got lost somewhere/sometime.

Earls Court sucks, that's to say the first night.

There are far more better ADATR concerts.

Not exactly an early gig, is it? An early gig would be '75 at the very latest.
If the gig was mixed properly from the multitracks, the vocals would sound a LOT better than whats out there at the moment. Its a very crude, dry mono mix, from the soundboard probably... it doesn't incorporate an ambient or audience mics and theres no reverb anywhere.

All we can know is that Killer Queen is in the vaults, since it was on Rare Live. I doubt they filmed only the one song, so there must be more footage.

I'm not sure how good the quality of this one is, but here's a link - but it's probably not being seeded right now.

My best advice is to get into the trading community and seek a copy that way.

I preferred the vocal solos on the NOTW tour where it would segue into Brian's guitar solo(two solos in one and would pre-date the tympani and guitar solo sections from October, 1978 to November, 1981). The Houston solo in 1977 was just amazing when he did the impromptu riff which would become Put Out the Fire years later. Then I also liked the Zurich, April of 1978 one where the electronic effects disappear in time for when Brian starts playing and Freddie and Brian dueled between delayed vocals and guitar and Brian hit a chord and Freddie ended with a falling note and Brian did his solo. That solo was where Brian hit a D note two octaves above middle C and kept it up for awhile.
