That's right! Tonight I begin my new job as director of my mother's church's bell choir. I think I'll do fine. Not nearly as nervous as I was in July when I *thought* it began, but still am unused to the impact I'll have.

As I said before in the accidental thread, I am nearly half the age of the youngest person in the cho.. oh wait, no. We have one young guy, but he's like ... 13. Soooo he doesn't count. ;) Other than that, I will see how it goes with the age thing. Shouldn't be a problem as they REALLY want me to do this.

It seems like an obsticale I didn't see at the beginning of the summer was the pastor's guitar group that formed and have been performing pretty regularly now. He came up to me the other Sunday to talk about moving us to practice somewhere else. I have a bunch of not so young women and one guy to haul all our heavy equipment to and fro, and I'm not about to do that to them. That, and the acoustics in the room they wish to shove us over to will make my head explode from the dynamics of the bells. I just know he's going to try and use his weight as pastor against me. I'm not going to let any ass treat me or my group like that. If he thinks his age or position is anything to push ME around, he is sorely mistaken.

Also, another person of the guitar group thought we should only perform one service (there are two that we play for, every second Sunday of the month). I don't think it's too much to ask to let us share with ALL people who come, and not half. That isn't fair, as there are two different services: traditional and contemporary. Plus, that is such a waste of all my ding dongs (jk ;) ) work and practice. It's not going to happen. That is just rude to even suggest.

One other good thing is, it'll pay for two terms of my tuition (and that's not considering the compensation from scholarships) so that's very good for me. The hours are great, too. An hour and a half every Thursday night, and one Sunday a month (with the exception of holidays when we'll be doing concerts, but those are fun!). It will also give me experience for my (maybe) career path of being a music teacher. Can't pass that up!

I'm hoping the best and that we'll all do a good job and have a fun time. We'll see :)

I'll let you guys know how it goes, if you like.

Op! Brownies I'm making them are done, and I must get ready to go!

Wish me luck! :)

Oh my god what a hottie - if there were any males in the bell choir I'm sure you could have lots of sex under the tables! :) (no irreverance ment, that's all I talk about sometimes)

May the camels be with you and wish you luck!

About that pastor... which one? I mean, right leg or left leg? Or maybe you prefer an arm? Let us know.

Okay, so it mostly went very well last night (thank you for all your well wishing!). They can read my conducting just fine and everyone is excited for us to have a good year. Only problem is we're short one person. There's a guy who can't join this month, but will in October. So that will be good.

I didn't get to have a chat with the pastor, but I found out from someone who is in the group I have problems with, that I also have to talk to some another lady 'heads their operations'. Okay... Anyhow, I'll handle that.

The group is doing good. Have this one guy who acts like a musical sophisticate, like he's so wonderful. I can't believe how full he is of himself. Then there is this one girl I used to do duets with. Ugh. She has dubbed herself (I kid you not) the Bell Hog. Yeah. She has to be special with the bells. Have at least ten to be in charge of in front of her, or else, 'it's not a challenge'. Yeah ... *I* can do it as well, toots, and it's not that hard. She offered her help for the missing person we don't have, and takes one of the bells (which is an octave below collection), and she's not getting it very well. If she doesn't get it two weeks before we play, I'm giving it to another who is just as capable and not doing anything where she's having trouble. I have to cut her off, cause it's not fair to the person who will play it, if she doesn't, to learn and practice it. Anyhow ... what else?

Oh, I felt kinda bad for our little guy (he's 11, not 13 like I thought). We talked so much, and I think he gets bored sometimes. He's in the lower bass and doesn't play a lot of notes. I'm going to get him to do something fun, cause I want him to have a good time and show himself he's very smart and capable of playing a difficult piece. I know he can do it.

Oh, and to conclude the evening, no one ate my brownies I made just for them ... :( I even brought milk, cause you know how you have something yummy like that, and then you only have water to wash it down with? Yuck! So yeah, the were sent off to my mother's work this morning. Oh well. Maybe I'll bring them ChexMix or Peas and Carrots next time. At least, THOSE are fattening (sheesh)... :P

------------------------------------------------

Again, thank you, Leonardo, Alex, Chris, Queenleaf, The Mir@cle, AC, Melissa, Zeni, Haystacks and Forever88 for your kind thoughts. Will make me even happier to do my work next Thursday!

And Queenleaf, don't worry about sexual comments - everybody does it ;)

I think religion is a waste of time, but music is good. I do like a choir singing oh holy night. sends shivers down my spine.

I'm not religious anymore, as it is. I just direct these bells.

Just want that to be clear.
