i like my ipod....mainly because if i ever do have any problems the apple people are always willing to help and theyre very good about replacing and the warranty. I've only had to get replacement earbuds (the ones i got never worked) and had a problem with a defective USB chord..but nothing wiht the actual ipod

P_G wasn't being sarcastic.

He is right; iPod's are the best suited to most people's needs.

I myself would KILL (or love) to have one myself, especially a 60GB one at that!

I have an iRiver MP3/WMA/FM player. It has 128MB of storage, which is FAR from being enough for me!

Good player though, and good if you want something cheap (luckily, it was a graduation gift from my parents, so I didn't pay a cent!)

I'm thinking of getting an iPod too...not an nano one, just a black mini 6GB one...is it worth having?

I have an Ipod and so far I'm quite satisfied with it. It has 20GB, and a battery life of 12 hours (7 hours while using an Itrip).

However, I wouldn't encourage anyone to get an Ipod just to follow the trend. It might be a good idea to ask your friends how each and everyone of them feel about using their MP3 players. You might also want to go to a good retailer and compare.

The only thing I don't recommend is anyone to build their music library with Windows Media. Use either Itunes or MusicMatch, but Windows Media is a piece of shit.

got my ipod for grad, was adamantly against it because it was apple (stupid reason) and had an archos jukebox prior to the ipod. I have a 30 gig ipod photo. its my pet. I praised it earlier but you truly get what you pay for.

I think Apple is going to discontinue the fabrication of the 'Ipod Mini'. Apparently they're trying to push the popularity of the 'Ipod Nano'.

The Ipod Nano is pretty much the same as the Ipod Mini, except that it's half as thin, and easier to carry.

I wouldn't call it stupid, but rather a good marketing strategy.

There are two models, one that holds 2GB, and the other 4GB.

Apparently some of the people who have received their Ipod Nanos have received them broken. However, Apple has mentioned that they're willing to immediatly replace any Ipods that have been received with any kind of damage. I don't know anyone who has actually broken an Ipod Nano after receiving it in good shape, so I can't tell how easily they break.

Has anyone noticed how on Itunes you can now download music videos, and some TV episodes including 'Lost'. You could also put them in your Ipod as long as it's the newest version that supports watching videos. That totally kicks ass, although I'm tempted to get one of those I'd rather wait until the prices drop.

Also be aware that a lot of customers say that the Ipod Nano scratches very easily (especially the black one). So unless you have a protection cover, you might want to be extremely careful if you wish to keep it in good shape.

Then again, it's not the only MP3 player on earth. That's why I strongly recommend to compare brands.

Thanks Linda, but I'm not particularly an expert on MP3 players. I just read a lot of customer reviews and make up my own ideas of what certain MP3 players might be like because no one can tell you better than an actual customer who has actually used the product.

I know what you mean Linda by finding trendy things annoying. Teenagers always tend to follow the crowd, and consider those who don't follow weird or just simply un-cool. I remember when Discmans came out, all of sudden Walkmans were considered "OUT" by the "Cool Kids". I always liked the Walkmans better because at least you could listen to the radio on them. A very similar thing happened when Nintendos became popular in the late 80s, so then your good ol' Atari 2600 was considered a piece of crap.

Free market competition: seems iPods came out on top. I feel that iPods maximize the convenience of organizing and playing music, especially as they are a perfect complement to iTunes. Other players may be slightly cheaper, and may play a slightly wider variety of media formats, however if you have the money, I suggest you take advantage of the dependability and convenience of an iPod. Also, since iPods are extremely common, as well as iTunes, it is easier to share music among peers.
