Does anyone have this? It might not even exsist, but it is one of my favorite songs, and i was wondering if there is a demo version. Thank you so much.
Oh and this is my first request/thread, so if I did something stupid/wrong, please be gentle...
Thank you :)

Ah well, I think a demo exists yes, but it doesn't circulate.

There's instrumental version, it's much better than all demos.

LOL,

there is a demo of every song dear Anna. Only most of the songs haven't reached the collectors yet.

I'm afraid not, hero.
Lots of songs where recorded 'live' in the studio. Take the The Game album for example. Not a single song was demoed - all was recorded ' live'.

Only 'demo' kind of thing (apart from some alternate takes) from that era is the Garden Lodge-tape of what became Save Me.

What about Coming Soon they used for The Game DVD-Audio? It's a demo or an earlier remix, they used it because they lost the tapes of the final version somehow.

It's an ALTERNATE TAKE, not a demo!

There is a big difference between demo's and alternate takes. Greg Brooks, this year, did not play a single DEMO - he solely played ALTERNATE TAKES.

And contrairy to what the_hero wants people to believe, there are NO demo's for the The Game album recorded. THERE ARE ONLY ALTERNATE TAKES.

Apart from the obvious demo's that are made in hope to get a recorddeal with them, a demo is a recording which is meant to be the starting point of a recording session. Sometimes they are recorded to make sure any idea's don't get lost in fading memory, some are recorded to present the recordcompany an idea of what to expect from the product an artist intends to start working on, some are recorded to let other bandmember hear what the writer has inside his head. Recorded at home (Freddie made loads of them in Garden Lodge, Brian recorded loads of them everywhere) or in the studio (which Queen did a lot) PRIOR to properly working out the details or get the imput from other bandmembers.

When the band DOES enter the studio to PROPERLY record a song, most of the time, every bandmember, or a number of them together, play(s) their part multiple times. Every single time they do so, every recording of a part, that is a TAKE. For the final product the best of all those takes are chosen.

From there on the takes that where not used for the endproduct is an ALTERNATE TAKE.

For Coming Soon for instance; the MASTERTAPES are lost. The mastertapes that ONLY include the final versions of songs. As they turned up on the album.
Luckily all workingtapes are still there and some TAKES that did not make it to the initial album where used for the 5.1 mix.

There where no songs for The Game demoed. The band just went into rehearsal and jammed to a couple of basic idea's. Alternate takes are also minimal for this album as the band then recorded most of it live in the studio and only did a couple of re-takes and overdubs.

Thats right Jeroen, but remember that many Queenzoners don't have this knowledge like you, me and other people have about how these recording things work. It's commonly accepted (but wrong..)that everything unreleased is called demo.

If you call a recording to capture an idea a demo I think we can call Sandbox a demo

Alternate/Alternative (Alternatief) means different. So when you want to be a "mierenneuker" every thing different to the official version is an alternate version
