Bush nominated Samuel Alito :)

He seems like a good man. Thought he was Hispanic when I saw his name, but apparently he's Italian. Oh well, I'm Hispanic AND Italian :) So it's all good. And he wears glasses :)

Aliiiittto.

See? This thread hasn't turned into an argument; I'll see what I can do.

FGT, Alito is clearly an Italian name. Just think about it. How could Alito be possibly construed as Hispanic? Unless his name was Jose or something.

Well, I had heard about a Hispanic fellow being in the running, and the way I was pronouncing it was A-LI-to, like in Spanish. Also, I don't automatically know if a name is Hispanic or Italian or whatnot. The way I was saying it, it sounded Hispanic.

Just like I thought the last name Shapiro was Italian until I discovered it was Jewish.

Italian makes me think of the maffia... I think Bush choose an italian to make the italian maffia support America., what do you think FGT?

Well, if Italian makes you think of the mafia, that's racist. Very few Italians have a mafia connection. And the mafia already supports America... it's America where they make their money, right?

Hmm, well, "Italian makes me think of the mafia." It wouldn't have been proper for anyone to say "mm, Hispanic makes me think of sneaking across the border" either.

And black makes me think of theft.

You know, like, for resale on the "black" market. And green makes me think of the forest. Like the "green" leaves on the trees.

You should never feel embarrassment, nor pride, for your background, but only for yourself.

people always mistake my name for being italian.
Im freaking mexican, I even have citizenship in mexico. I dont get it because my name is very blatantly Spanish, I guess because it has so many vowels or whatever people just assume im Italian. OH and the fact that im freakishly lighter than my parents.
And quite frankly living in california for like 18 years its VERY EASY to associate Mexicans with being wetbacks, I know not all of them are but whatever.

And reggaeton sucks balls. My new roommate thinks shes latina, listens to that shit nonstop. UGH. fucking bleeding ears.

just my take on the topic so far.

I almost thought a man named Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramirez was a British MI6 agent. Boy was I surprised when I found out otherwise.
