I'm sure this has been answered before but alas I don't know. I ask b/c on Innuendo and Made in Heaven, his voice sounds crystal clear and his high notes are particularly rich and full. If he did quit smoking around what time did he do so? Would have been awesome to see him in concert judging by the way he sounded towards the end! I still love you too, Freddie!

I think he quit in 1986 because he was having enough trouble singing well with HIV/AIDS.

The last time I saw him smoking was in the making of the video "Days Of Our Lives" which was in may 91, he probally quit sometime after that I guess.

Hey, knowing Freddie and his outrageous sense of humor and EXTREME lack of good taste at times, he's probably LHisAO in heaven! ;-)

It's only a few seconds at the begining of the greatest hits 2 video, you can see Freddie on the stage where they were recording him holding a cigarrete and making a gesture with his arms.

According to Pheobe's book, he was supposed to quit smoking. But from film footage I've seen (Breakthru on GVH2 and TATDOOL on the VHS 'Classic Queen') he never did. And you know what? A man as ill as he was at the time, let him light up if it makes him happy.

Yeah I remember that, he has his hand on a railing, and puffs on a cigarette at the same time.
