You have 5 pages (as an example), but when you click on 5th page - it's empty and last message still is on the 4th.

That happens when posts are deleted, which usually happens after a poster has also been deleted. In that thread you mention, it was because Evan's posts were deleted.

For whatever reason, it only registers on the main page and not after you open the thread.

I'm not sure, I've seen it many times before when no-one was deleted...

I have seen that many times too, when no other post was deleted.

Sometimes even I will post something, and it's published on the thread, out of sequence/order, and I'll see other posts timed after mine, sequenced back further too, and they just keep being published out of sequence, backwards...instead of forwards.
