"You had to be there"

If you'd hear this song when it was released (1975), you'll see why it's so important in the music history.

I LOVE BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY!
It's been my favourite song ever since, i will tell you why....

Bohemian Rhapsody was on television one day and that day was the day i got in to Queen the day i saw what Queen were all made of the day i thought "WOW who the fuck is these people?" The day i saw a 2 hour documentry on VH1 few mintues after Boh Rhap and it said there whole life story about this great band called Queen. I have only seen this documentry twice and i fucking wish i had taped it because it was THE BEST documentry i have ever seen about Queen. I have alot of documentrys but this is far the best ever. So to your answer on if i think Boh Rhap is a hyper song and if its overrated?

Yes its hyper but in its own good reason, Freddie had something to say to the world and this is the best way to say it. I think its an amazing song and i wish i was there to hear it first hand in 1975. I will never hate this song and INFACT i heard today on the radio that BOH RHAP is no. 1 in the christmas charts....

SO IT FUCKING ROCKS AND EVERYONE KNOWS IT! WOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bohemian Rhapsody is so unique and special for various reasons:
For example
- The great lyrics and voice
- Hear Freddie singing "thrown it all away" and "face the truth"
Who else sings a song like that? Who???
- The melody of the piano is ...I have no words to describe it...incredible, great,...(yeah everyone is able to play it...but that's not the point)
- And I have to admit Brian's solo fits very well
- The changes of speed an volumes
- The smooth segues
- The creativity (opera section)

Come on, tell me another song that is similar. I don't know any. For sure there wasn't any before.

Yeah, if this song would have been sung by someone like Paul Rodgers...it would have lacked but that's another story.

The hype that surrounds Bohemian Rhapsody is totally well deserved. It is the best song ever written, it broke a million boundries when it was released and is music history forever.
I kinda understand what your saying though. Dont agree, but understand.

The reason we're successful, darling? My overall charisma, of course- Freddie Mercury

I agree that the song broke so many boundaries, shows genius songwriting ability and deserves all the hype it gets, but personally, I get sick of it every now and then because it's so desperately overplayed! I sometimes just wish that the media would recognise that Queen existed before november 1975, and let people know that there is more to Queen than Bohemian Rhapsody.

It's the culmination of their unique mix. Previous "attempts", although noteworthy, did not have the same succes. E.g. "The March of the Black Queen" or "The Fairy Feller's Masterstroke"

Although it was one of the prime reasons I got into Queen, I do remember being fed up that it was still at number one in the UK charts after nine weeks!

In those days the charts were very important and everyone watched top of the pops to see who was in pole position, you couldn't help but get fed up with it, nine weeks is a hell of a long time when you are 12!

Bohemian Rhapsody is special because it is unique. It changes themes and does not seem to match the rest of itself. The only other song I can think of that even attempts to do this is Innuendo. It is completely unique. The greatest song ever written.

This can't end well.

Bohemian Rhapsody deserves any hype or credit it gets, plus more. No song will ever top it.
In my opinion, Innuendo IS a close 2nd place, but didn't get nearly as much hype as it deserved.
R.I.P Freddie.

Innuendo or Kashmir? Both awesome!

I think it is very unfair to say 'Bohemian Rhapsody' is overrated.

The thing is, it is Queen's signature tune, what really made them and catapulted them and it has been played to death ever since.

I am not going to harp on about how amazing it is etc... Basically, all you need to know, is that it is a work of art and is a masterpiece.

I would rather listen to a lot of Queen songs before 'Bo-Rap', just because I have heard the song a zazillion times. But I tell you this, it is easily in my top 5 Queen songs and in my top 5 songs of all time.

Just think of it like this, if you heard 'Bohemian Rhapsody' for the first time, you would be blown away and you would not shut up about it. It really is a massive compliment to the genius of Freddie, Queen and the song, that is talked about so much and played as much as it is. There must be some reason for that and there is, because the song is a breathtaking achievement of music!!!

I can see where people are coming from but do not let the popularity of the song ruin the legendary status of the song and the coverage and praise it fully and truly deserves!

'BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY' ROCKS!!!

No, "Bohemian Rhapsody" is in no way overrated. Guinness World did a poll to determine the world's favorite rock song and it easily came out #1. Maybe certain rock critics do not like it, but you can't go around accusing the world's people of bad taste without being incredibly elitist.

I think Bohemian Rhapsody deserves the 'hype' it gets. It's unique; it's one of those songs you can hear a thousand times and still be amazed at just how much is in it when you hear it again. I consider it to be one of the quintessential Queen songs.

I think everything which is pure genius is eventually hyped so much that it is, in a way damaged beyond repair (In a sub-concious way)
The song Bo. Rap. is a mark of true genius and the only way i remind myself of this is my reaction, to the song, the first time i ever heard it. (About 1983 when i was about 4 years old)
I didn't realise then that it was genius, obviously, because i was so young. But i knew that there was something different about the song. It conjured up images in my head, the lyrics reflect so much characterisation it is remarkable. I think many people have their own personal idea of what the song is about. When i was a child the song invented imagery of medi evil Britain and a young boy who had obviously done something bad.

I am not a huge Queen fan or anything but i do believe that there is no song can touch Bo. Rap.

The fact that there is no clear structure to the song (eg Verse Bridge Chorus Verse Bridge Chorus End) The melody changes constantly, the pitch varies incredibly in comparison with other songs and the speed of the song constantly changes.
I don't think Freddie Mercury realised that it was so good.

It was a moment of genius, something pious took control of him when he wrote that, thats for sure!
