Sincere apologies if this is old news (I could not find anything within the search option).

But I have just found out that Sylvester Stallone was desperate to have 'Another One Bites The Dust' as the theme tune to 'Rocky III' but the film company persuaded him to go with Survivor's 'Eye Of The Tiger'.

Cheesy as it is, I do like 'Eye Of The Tiger' and I absolutely love the 'Rocky' franchise but to have my favourite artists perform the theme tune to one of the 'Rocky' films would have been quite cool!

So, am I just very thick and slow finding this out or are there other people who were not aware of this?

Not to me it isn't.

'Tis a very good bit of trivia.

Rocky III - one of my favourite films ever... in fact the whole Rocky series (bar Rocky V) is in my top 10 favourite films.

What a shame... I love Eye Of The Tiger but a Queen song in a Rocky film would have been just brilliant for me!!!

Rocky 3 was 1983 - I think the record company were right to prefer a song less than 3 years old.

Yeah I read this last week as I was checking out info on whether they were going to re-release Rocky DVD's on DTS, and came across a movie site that was talking about Rocky 111 amd how Stallone wanted to get Joe Frazier to play the role of the new fighter.

They also mentioned Stallone wanting AOBTD to be used, whilst I love this song like I love Queen, they would have had to at least mix a faster version to go with the intro of the movie, like having crunching heavy bass and lead guitar work happening on the song, otherwise AOBTD would of been too slow for the fast paced action intro of the film.

"Eye of the tiger" is just perfect for the film, perhaps they could have played AOBTD when showing Clubber Lang training in the gym, and he has a newspaper clipping of Balboa on the wall and Clubber is using this as motivation to smash Balboa in the ring, remember Clubber did say to Balboa in the first fight "Ive been waiting three years for you".

Im getting carried away now, this is supposed to be a Queen chatsite, not a Rocky one. Sorry people.

Strangely enough, when Terminator was shown on german TV last week, I noticed the soundtrack, which now sounds really dated with all it's synth stuff, no comparison to the huge soundtrack of T2. I then went on thinking how great "Machines" would have fitted into the movie, heavy rock and really dark lyrics. I ended up seeing that T1 was made in 1984 when Machines and The Works was released and thinking how that would've resurrected Queen in the states... now I am getting carried away as well, sorry... ;-)
