Ultimate Collection: 1986 Exactly as it says in the title. I apologise for any careless omissions or errors in advance, (I have proof-read but I have been restricted to one-handed work only). Please feel free to contribute and to push the boundaries forwards. (Also, if used/reproduced elsewhere - an acknowledgement would be courteous). This latest addition supersedes any previous versions. 1986 Queen: A Kind Of Magic Queen: Highlander Original Soundtrack UK CD - A Kind Of Magic: EMI CDP 7 46267 2 Highlander (10th Anniversary Director’s Cut) - DVD R1 Republic Pictures 55895 Theatrical Trailer One Vision Album Version - A Kind Of Magic: EMI CDP 7 46267 2 Classic Queen (4:3 No outro/Hybrid Edit - US Hollywood HR-61311-2 7" Edit - Greatest Hits II: Parlophone CDP 79 7971 2 Blurred Vision B-Side - EMI 12 Queen 6 Karaoke Instrumental - Japan Toshiba EMI TOLW - 3249.50 12" Extended - AKOM: US 1991 Hollywood HR-61152-2 1998 eYe Instrumental Edit “30 - Electronic Arts DDE05501 101S 1998 eYe Instrumental Edit 2:24 - Electronic Arts DDE05501 101S Intro Edit: 34” - Total Guitar CD Magazine US Promo 3:46 Edit - Capitol 7PRO-9546/9547 Promotional Video - Greatest Flix I & II: Pioneer PLMPD 01171 Promotional Video (Extended Version) - Greatest Video Hits II: Parlophone 7243 4 90983 9 8 In The Studio Video (Extended) - Magic Years Vol 1 A Kind Of Magic Album Version - A Kind Of Magic: EMI CDP 7 46267 2 1986 CD Bonus (A Kind Of A Kind of Magic) - A Kind Of Magic: EMI CDP 7 46267 2 Karaoke Instrumental - Japan Toshiba EMI TOLW - 3249.50 12" Extended - 12" Collection: CDQ TEL 0001 1986 Highlander OST Version - Highlander: Warner Home Video PES 38050 1998 eYe Full Instrumental 4:23 - Electronic Arts DDE05501 101S 1998 eYe "It's Magic" “03 Edit - Electronic Arts DDE05501 101S 2003 Highlander OST 4: 08 Extended Version - Live At Wembley Stadium DVD 2003 DJ Jimmy Jam's Magic White Label Bootleg Remix - Home Mini-Disc DJ Vava Tube Remix - Home Mini-Disc US 12" DJ Promo Siegel/Dethman 7:33 Remix - Hot Trax Highlander Computer Game - Commodore 64 Version Promotional Video Version (No 1) - Greatest Flix I & II: Pioneer PLMPD 01171 Promotional Video Version (No 2) - Unreleased: One Year Of Love Album Version - A Kind Of Magic: EMI CDP 7 46267 2 US Promo 3:51 CD Single - US CDS Promo Hollywood PRCD-10196-2 1986 Highlander OST - Highlander: Warner Home Video PES 38050 2002 Highlander DVD Extended Version - Highlander: Anchor Bay Demo: Town House Studios 25.01.1986 - Unreleased: Peter Freestone US Hollywood Promotional Video - Unreleased: Home Video Pain Is So Close To Pleasure Album Version - A Kind Of Magic: EMI CDP 7 46267 2 7" US Remix - US 12" Capitol V-15260 12" US Extended Remix - 12" Collection: CDQ TEL 0001 Friends Will Be Friends Album Version - A Kind Of Magic: EMI CDP 7 46267 2 Friends Will Be Friends Will Be Friends (Bonus) - A Kind Of Magic: EMI CDP 7 46267 2 7" Edit Remix - EMI Queen 8 Karaoke Instrumental - Japan Toshiba EMI TOLW - 3249.50 12" Extended - EMI 12 Queen 8 Promotional Video - Greatest Flix I & II: Pioneer PLMPD 01171 Who Wants To Live Forever Album Version - A Kind Of Magic: EMI CDP 7 46267 2 1985 CD Bonus Track (Forever) - A Kind Of Magic: EMI CDP 7 46267 2 Greatest Hits II (4:57 Edited Outro) - Greatest Hits II: Parlophone CDP 79 7971 2 US Promo CD Single 7" (4:00) Remix/Video - EMI Queen 9 Karaoke Instrumental - Japan Toshiba EMI TOLW - 3249.50 Hardcore Remix 1998 eYe 3:19 Edit - Electronic Arts DDE05501 101S Original Skip Demo No 1 - Unreleased: Home Mini-Disc Original Skip Demo No 2 - Unreleased: Home Mini-Disc Original Skip Demo No 3 - Unreleased: Home Mini-Disc Original Skip Demo No 4 - Unreleased: Home Mini-Disc Rachel's Surprise OST - Highlander Original Scores: Edel 0028892EDL Hi "Listen to them. These instrumental versions from The Eye.....by instrumental does it mean that the vocals have been removed or rather that they have been replaced by an instrument of some sort playing the vocal part. Apologies in advance if this has already been discussed..... www.myspace.com/jacrawford79

Great stuff, John. I seem to remember from a previous post of yours ages ago songs titled 'You're Not The Only One' and 'Demo 2' came from the AKOM recording sessions, as well as 'Love Makin' Love'. Or am I just crazy? Also - would the original version of 'A Kind Of Magic' (the one that appears in the credits of Highlander) be considered the original version or an edit? Conversely, the 2003 version from Live At Wembley - is THAT the original version or extended? I guess it's not all that important, but that just crossed my mind.

Lester Burnham: Correct on all accounts Lester, that's why I need a proof-reader to guard against such typos! Love Makin' Love: Can be found in the FM box set (CD 7), I believe that this info is found in the accompanying book. More seriously though, like previous entries I have just stuck to facts rather than speculations - but I believe that the 'A Kind Of Magic' film version is the original "...before that rotter Freddie got hold of it." By cataloguing it as the Original Soundtrack Version (OST): 1986 Highlander OST Version - Highlander: Warner Home Video PES 38050, I thought I could circumvent any disputes. However, now the thread has moved 'beyond the academic', I welcome any such suggestions (as long as they have evidence) and I think that it was Roger Taylor who claimed that the end credit version was closer to (if not the) original itself. Heh, in all fairness to Mr. J, I don't think he was aware that you hadn't yet finished the thread (unlike me, who caught the full thing over at QOL). Also, I would say that the Wembley DVD version of AKOM is the standard version, and that the Highlander version is merely an edit - if I recall correctly, it just fades out about thirty seconds before the conclusion, and I find it strange that the band would produce an extended mix of a song that was still half-baked. Maybe if the credits from Highlander had gone on for thirty seconds longer, we may have gotten the full version...

I agree. I too think it would have been silly to extend an unreleased version, but, it does make sense to shorten the OST to fit the credit length. By this thinking, the Wembley version would be the 'original', and the End Credits version an 'edit' of that original. The comment to Mr J - was NOT meant to be taken seriously! (Hence the exclamation!). "Listen to them. Creatures of the night. What music they make..."

Thanks John! Notes: FWBF video from GVH2 is longer than from GF2. Queen's promotional video (not film) for HFE was released on GF3 VHS. Tutti Frutti from DVD is unedited version. And I don't know if it needs to be count, but how about Brian's "Butterfly" theme?
