Having hijacked some other topics with talk of Wrestlers and Promotions I'd thought I'd start a thread for us fans of the Squared Circle to discuss Sports Entertainment....

No, I got Showdown: Legends Of Wrestling for the X-Box though...

as it features old wrestlers, it appeals to me :)

Anyways, let's find a topic and discuss that...WWE, WCW, ECW, TNA, a particular wrestler, match, ppv etc...

TNA, it is so stupid!

They make a hexagon ring.....What the hell?

Superstars-

Shark Boy- Greaaaat.....can we spin off the hurricane any better

Goldylocks-........uhh.......is she russian?

Mr. Aguila-hmmmm.....Remember when he was Galaxy?

Sting- Fine, one good person....

Oh and the worst parts

JEFF HARDY AND JEFF JARETT ARE BOTH TNA CHAMPIONS!

if I remember correctly, Jarett lost the IC title to Chyna and Hardy is done with WWE due to drug charges............good job

well...Jarrett and his family own and run TNA...
so he'll always be a figurehead and top draw. I like the promotion, sure it features some WWE/WCW rejects but it also has a cracking X-Division!

It's produced stars like AJ Styles, Chris Daniels, Kid Kash, Frankie Kazarian, Abyss, Monty Brown, Michael Shane, etc, etc.....

I actually like the six-sided ring to be honest, and I find TNA focuses more on actual wrestling than promo, followed by angle...

All of those people would just have been mechanics in WWE.

They tried way too hard to reinvent wrestling like ECW did and now it is just dumb. Then you add how cliche their characters are. Sting and maybe Jarett are the only origional people there. Sting with his paint and the gothic look (which has been copied way too much) and Jarret's rich redneck attitude (for f*cks sake, Cade & Murdoch, Blue Collar TV)

Like this storyline-

Goldylocks and her boyfriend whom she calls "Gooby Bear" (or something like that) are trying to get contracts from other superstars. She gets the contract of a guy who looks like a mix between Mankind and Kane and set out to get Shark Boy and his little partener's contracts too. And the Mankind/Kane guy is infatuated with Goldylocks and is jealous of Gooby Bear because he stole his pin over Mr Aguila and his little buddy.

Kind of odd

Wrestling is like a pantomime...you have to believe what you are seeing but also realise it is mostly coreographed.

It isn't fake...it's pre-determined.

Having watched WWE Bottom Line last night, with Vince McMahon still going on and on about Survivor Series 1997, and using it to re-create another storyline where he is the "bad owner" (like he did with Steve Austin)...

It's been over 8 years ago....

Now that's a timewarp, give me TNA anyday.

My Bret Hart DVD hasn't arrived yet :(

I am soooooooooooo hungover.
I did like TNA for a bit, but to be completley honest the ring they have puts me off soooo much, but at the same to time i find it a bit refreshing as to me WWE is losing it's touch.
I haven't really been watching wrestling that much this year because i haven't found it the least bit exciting or original.

I prefer to watch the classic periods. To me the best periods of Wrestling were 1985 - 1992, 1996 - 1999, and 2001 (the alliance angle.)and ANY of the Royal Rumbles (my favourite match, although it must be very hard to book)

If i'm not making any sense in this post it's because my ears are sore, my head is aching and my stomach is hurting....

TNA have signed Christian!!

Hopefully he'll get a main event push there and the NWA World Title, show Titan what they're missing...

Criminally under-rated at WWE in my opinion.

Definitley.

Christian was probably in my top 5 favourite wrestlers. Although he did have many shining moments, tag team champions with Edge multiple times, his fued with Edge which got him the IC title, and overall his push in 2001 was awesome.

But, he never became a main event wrestler. That really baffles me, he was an excellent wrestler and was great on the mic, he had everything it took to be a champion. The only thing maybe not on his favour was his size, which to me makes no difference, but i think it does to other wrestling fans and probably the writers of the WWE as well.

I don't think becoming TNA champion is going to do much justice to his career, he deserves much, much more....

I agree, but he lives in Orlando, where TNA is based now...so what other choice does he have in the States, upon leaving WWE?

He could go to Japan maybe....I wish him all the best.

Are you f*cking serious?

Thats another great example of how people who couldnt make it in WWE are jumping ship to TNA.

And what the fuck is with their ring? Its a squared circle, not a hexagoned circle. if Hexagoned is even a word.

Anyone lucky enough to watch ECW back in the 90's? Long before the TNN deal. Lots of stars made a name for themselves. Stone Cold Steve Austin, Cactus Jack, Raven, the list goes on. ECW, IMO, created the hardcore gerne if wrestling.

A classic WWE mark. Next you will be saying how John Cena and Batista are the greatest wrestlers of all time.

Liverpool Arena, 17th October 2008: Lovely stuff!

Manchester MEN, 4th May 2005: F*cking superb.
