I'v come to a conclusion that roger is a real twit! I was watching some of his comments about some of the other queen members songs like "bo rhap" and "scandal" the "miracle" saying the miracle was to niave and wasn't cynical enough for him, Wasn't he the one who wrote "heaven for everyone"! He also mentioned Who wants to live forever as not one of his favorites.
Roger seems to put most songs down unless he's the one who wrote it. roger wrote only about 22 songs for queen and half of them stink.

That's very true, but I'm not sure if he wasn't perhaps just being honest about the other songs. Don't know what he said about Bohemian Rhapsody, but Scandal and The Miracle are certainly not the best ever songs, by any means (in my opinion).

Where did you read / hear what he said? Can you give us a link? Maybe if we could read / hear the whole thing, it could be put into context?

GVH2 commentaries.

To starter of topic: so what? Freddie and John hated "Gimme The Prize"... Roger always has opinion and he's never afraid to say it! And I respect him very much for that.

About The Miracle he said that he loved the lyrics. A bit naive maybe yes, but that's the truth isn't it?? When did he say he only like his own songs?? I'v NEVER heard/read him say that. But I mean if he likes his songs, it's not that wierd is it? I mean you don't write a song and put it on an album if you thinks it's a bad song.

I'm waiting on the "F**k you for saying that, Roger is that hottest man alive!" comments......

I do agree with you to an extent. He sometimes speaks his mind too much when he's talking about certain Queen numbers, which sometimes takes away the purpose or uniqueness away from these songs. I mean after all, when you hear somebody who had a huge role in the creations of these pieces of music mocking his own or his bandmates work, it takes away some of it's credibility in a sense. It did make me laugh though at the commentary during Scandal where Brian is trying to explain the meaning of the song in a serious manner, then Roger comes in and just says "Nah....not one of my favourites...."

Well, I've also noticed something to similar to that which the poster of the topic mentioned. While Brian May is talking about how deeply meaningful a song is to him (e.g. Who Wants to Live Forever, inter alia), Roger will dish up some trivial comment about how drunk he was in the shoot. And often whilst someone has praise for a song (again, usually Brian lol) Roger often has only a dismissive comment about how boring the shoot was or the song was not one of his favourites.

I think he just has that attitude, you know trying to keep in with a sort of hard, rebellious image lol. But behind that there's definitely a lot of intelligence and I'm sure he makes a lot of those such comments without being all too serious. My opinion anyway.

In my opinion he is honest and that's a great thing to have, honesty.
I prefer the truth better than a comfortable lie. I like that he speaks his mind out and loud. We can agree or not with what he's saying but the man is not hiding anything just to appear nicer to his fans.
On the breakthru comments he also says that he wrote the song in a very different way, simpler I think he says, but that the others started making changes and that the resulting song was not much of his taste. He has all the right to talk about his or the others songs as long as he is not being unrespectful, which I think he never is.
Oh, and I love the miracle lyrics, anyway.;)

F*** you for sayin that hes the hottest man alive.

lol

But in all seriousness, his good looks have nothing to do with his opinions.
And Bri's always been one of the serious ones in the group and Rog's always been the sarcastic/humourous one.
And i wonder if its part of the maintaining the badboy image thing too.
Hes always had more i duno... I guess politically charged, real life type songs, like Nazis or I just wanna testify, (more rockin hardcoreish types) not the beautifuly emotive Who Wants to Live Forever types.
And the lyrics to the Miracle are slightly naive, but its a great song nonetheless IMO, a song full of hope for a more peaceful world.
Its not like hes walking around going "wow this songs bloody sh** and i cant believe they make me do this"
Hes still very proud of Queen as a whole although he may disagree with some songs, as do all of the band members

Actually, the fact that Roger thinks for himself, and is not afraid to bluntly speak his mind, whether we agree with him or not, and that he is bold enough to not ''follow the pack'' and speak from his own heart and mind, no matter what others think...

...makes him even HOTTER, because he has a brain and uses it!

I may not always agree with what he says, but I respect him very much for having the guts to say his piece.

And taking on the likes of Rolling Stone in his letter to them, or of all people, the VERY powerful media mogul, Rupert Murdoch, in Roger's song about Murdoch, and writing songs about rascism, politics, etc. as well as life lesson songs like TATDOOL, shows what a free thinker and brave man he can be.

I don't think he's all that ''bad boy'' at all and it's just an image of the typical rock & roller.

Somehow I get the feeling he is a very sensative man who puts up with alot of sh*T and covers that with a veneer of ''oh that's just BS'' bravado.

Anybody that could write the lyrics he did to These Are The Days Of Our Lives, Innuendo, and Nazis must have a lot on the ball and I certainly credit him for being quite intelligent, reflective, outspoken, brave, gutsy, and excuse me for having balls.

Let's also not forget that:

Freddie made the comment about Queen's songs all being disposable like Bic razors (though I realize that he was also using bravado to beat the critics at their own game and that for Freddie, each Queen song, especially the ones he wrote literally gave his life meaning, especially in his final days of illness.)

Brian made the comment about BoRhap not being all that pivotal or defining a song or point in Queen's career, which I think was his way of saying, maybe it was at the time, but no one wants their entire career and worth to be based on one song..and he wants ALL of Queen's work to be thought of as innovative and having merit, and taking new chances and directions.

John..pretty much NOT making comments..which we THEN make fun of...so you can't have it both ways.

Roger states his mind and you get pissed over it, John never says a damn thing and just went with the flow and we all jest about him.

Look, if Roger could be a politician, (God Forbid)he would probably be great. Roger...is alot like another musician that takes alot of CRAP on this board....

Bono.

I FNG applaud Roger's outspokenness and more so, because his viewpoints and opinions are well thought out, brave, and nothing to go apes*it over.

Like I said, Freddie and Brian have had their critical moments too.

Roger just is more outspoken, but with that comes his very brave shots at such powerful, biased idiots as Rupert Murdoch, Rolling Stone, Nazi skinheads...come on the guy is a one in a million peach and I adore him.

A thread like this will never work. We talk in 2 languages. If one person comments on their look, their personality is challenged. If one comments their personality, their looks are challenged.

There is no end to this. Yes, I admit, he could have used better judgement but he also made many good choices.....

......and he is the drummer of Queen, Nobody will ever take that from him.
