only recently have i realised that this is my last year of high school.

a friend of mine and i were discussing this the other day. after high school, we probably won't see each other again. Sure, for the first few months we might, but after a while, we'll stop seeing each other.

It hurts me to think of that. One of my friends is pregnant, and i want to stay close to her to help with the baby (and play with it). I believe two of my friends will get married eventually, and i want to be there to see it. Another friend and i always go to concerts together, and i'll miss that.

i know this has no revelvance to anyone here, but i thought i'd say something cause i could.

Yep, Australian schools only go up to Year 12 although I believe there was some chatter over here in Western Australia about implementing a 13th year as an optional thing. Ha, that'd last about 3 years.

I graduated from High School last May, and it's not been the same since i admit, but you'll be taking new paths in life and be making new friends. An important thing to do is to remain in contact with all your old friends from High School, i've drifted away from a couple of people in the past 9 months (mainly because i moved away for University) which i deeply regret. In an age of e-mails, MSN, mobile phones, fax etc there's no excuse for not keeping in contact with someone!

Of course i'll try to stay in contact with them!! but we're all so pathetic! we never call each other outside of school term. we're pretty unorganised.

Unfortunate as it is, people really do 'grow apart' after school ends and it often happens quicker than you think. Just about my best buddy in the whole freakin' world, I've seen him twice since school ended - one time was of course in the dole queue (he said to me wistfully "look where the future has taken us").

It sucks, but it just happens - one year, you are legally obligated to sit in the same room as these people for 6 hours a day, and then the next day, you don't have to anymore. Even my best buddies, I only see once every 6 months or so now.

Meh. I obviously can't articulate what I'm trying to say, but if you want to see something *really* good on the subject of people drifting apart, go and get a copy of the movie "Stand By Me".

And remember there's also a good side to never seeing these people again. Once they're gone, they're gone, and all the bullshit they said was important means nothing anymore! :D
