Isn't it strange that the supposed greatest peace-keeping organization in the world is the most politically corrupt, spineless thing that shakes their finger at the US for doing their job?

Discuss.

Two words: Hotel Rwanda. Words cannot describe how completely disgusting the UN is, but that film can.

...and the U.S. (particularly the Bush administration) is not corrupt?

The reason why this world is so fucked up is because people choose to take sides when they see two wrongs. You might acknowledge the least wrong, but still recognize that there's a lot of things that are not quite correct about either one.

The problem with the UN is that they are afraid to do anything. I like FreddieGhettoTrench's example of hotel Rwanda. If you havent seen it, its about the massacre of the Tutsis by the Hutus. One Hutu said how they could kill 1000 Tutsis in 20 minutes. Thats 50 per minute- which is damn close to 1 a second. And what was the UN's answer to the US's idea of action?

"Not Somalia"

Not to mention that Rwanda was on the UN with a Hutu as their representative.

Im not saying that the UN isnt a step in the right direction but it still needs work.

Reminds me of one of those logic problems.

Is this statement true or false: If all Hutus are Tutus, and all Tutus are Tutsis, then all Hutus are Tutsis.

When did I say that the U.S. was so terrible?

Yeah, there's a lot of corruption coming from the Bush administration, but you can't blame an entire nation for the decisions taken by a dozen idiots. There's a lot of moderate politicians, and heads of local government authorities (in both parties) who are not particuarly happy with the way things are being handled, and who are open to ideas and comments from people who want a things heading towards a better future. Things that could benefit EVERYONE, and not just the few who stand on top of the social/economical ladder.

Besides, if we told everyone who disagrees to LEAVE, wouldn't that be some sort of totaliarist/fascist way how to run a nation?

The US had an idea of action? First I've heard of it. The US could have done a lot more, yet managed to get in the way.

Isn't it strange that the supposed greatest peace-keeping country in the world have some guys in President's administration who doesn't know what's the difference between Slovenia and Slovakia?

How many pro-USA and anti-USA threads do we need here?

And since when should it be the USA's job to play babysitter for the rest of the world?

Apparently, you didn't take the time to read the other source provided.

Wikipedia gets to the point, that's why it was included. You could use the education.

Because the American extreme right-wing keeps saying that the U.N. should be eliminated, and the U.S. should completely take the right to handle foreign affairs worldwide.

If the U.S is going to become the world's police (no 'Team America' pun intended), why should we take care responsibility of only those things that we consider important?

It just doesn't make sense.

You two are both from the USA and you are constantly whining about it. There is nothing wrong with questioning government but you do nothing about it. You sit there and sigh while you do nothing to help your country. Maybe if you had a legitamate arguement and you stayed the course you could change something.

But guess what Bush is the president and unless you have a couple million dollars to send to the democrats, there is nothing you can do about it.

Every four years we get a chance for action, and without all this preexisting questioning, we would all be making a waste of this opportunity. It takes four years to make such an important decision - not just the few months before election.
