Oh no! Brian May has said on his wesite that NONE of these U.S. shows are being recorded!!! That's terrible! Especially if they actually did do some new live songs! How horrible! Some of you out there better be making some great bootlegs at least audio if nothing else! I don't believe this! What is the logic?!

That's what he thinks. Wait until we get inundated with bootlegs.

Who cares if they (1.) record it for their archives or (2.) don't record at all - makes no difference for us fans, we will never get to hear it anyway.

Let's hope for bootlegs. I somehow doubt the Americans will record anything so I'm putting my hopes into several European fans who are travelling to USA and they will undoubtedly take their camcorders with them :-)

That's a bit harsh Scully - arguably, US tapers have been the most prolific in rock history........ Look at the number of US Queen shows available, let alone shows by bands like Led Zep, The Stones, The Who etc etc......

I think Brian's just saying this to duck the issue of releasing more MP3 tracks on QueenOnline - whoever it is operating the board on the night will DEFINATELY have a DAT drive hooked up in order to be able to check out how the front-of-house sound is at each venue. This will be then be used as a reference point going forward. They'll use material like this to refer to when trying out new material on stage and also to take back in to the studio with them should someone (Brian) come up with an interesting riff that needs to be expanded on for a recording.

Hopefully, a generous soul will leak one of these......you never know.

Indeed - I also understood Brian's message as being an answer to the question wether there would be official downloads again.

OK, maybe a bit harsh but I still think the best Queen live recordings come from (1.) Japan, (2.) Europe, (3.) USA - in this order. There are many US recordings because US have seen 200 Queen concerts, more than any other country! :-) But look at the UK tours - we have recording from most gigs. Compare to American Game or Hot Space tours - maybe one third of the gigs were recorded, mostly in VG or VG- quality.

It's so much easier to record these things these days. If they did it in the '70s they're doing it now :)

I doubt there will be an official release though since they already did ROTC...he probably wanted to squash those expectations....

about the quality of US Queen recordings;

remember that the last time Queen toured there, recording equipments were not was it is today. I'm not an expert, but I would think that it's easier to make a good recording in 2006 than it was in 1982, let alone 1976.

Hmm... I dunno - no-one expected and was promised anything from Japan either.
I can imagine a US show being filmed and turning out so good that they do an official release. Just like "Super Live" (:-S)

Brian said (BrianMay.com):

"We don't have a recording set-up on this tour .... so ... no live downloads. At least not in the foreseeable ... But we may record one show if we think we are getting good !! ha ha!

There is talk of going into a studio on a day off to put down the new song .... I"ll keep you posted."

I think they're going to make a DVD out of the US tour.

I might share a bootleg from this tour if everybody kisses my ass or has something to trade.

Thats a good point. Whats so exciting about this tour anyways. Brian May said Queen will focus on the 1970's material for the American fans. What a liar.

No US tours being recorded eh?

Look at this pic psteeler posted:

Look what's recording in front of the stage, that's a professional camera.
When they record video, they also record audio. :-)
This of course doesn't mean it will get released or anything, I doubt that.

The understanding is that those cameras are for just showing them on the big screens at the concert and that nothing is actually being recorded. Can you imagine? All that and someone can't stick in a video tape and press record? What the phuck?

That's right Alex...
It's for live-feed - It's with all shows with screens - nothing needs to be recorded!

Nothing needs to be recorded. O.k. Do you also think that they should throw out all those unreleased tapes and clean out the vaults as well? They do need dusting...
