I think the fact that Paul Rodgers is announcing more solo dates while QPR is in the middle of a tour shows what he is all about. He used this to further his own career and to line his pockets.Im really regretting this whole thing and i think David Lee Roth had a point when he said that Rodgers strong armed Queen to share billing because he knew they were itching to play.Truth be told he is a second rate singer whose lyrics are all about having a hard on.These guys who hide behind being blues singers are ofter just rock singers who can cut it in the higher keys.Im know im getting pounded for this but im really pissed off now.

Jesus Christ!
Your post makes me pine for BPP it's so bad.

It's already been said that Brian and Roger approached Paul and said we wanna call it Queen + Paul Rodgers and do half your material.
Paul graciously said no, since you wanna call it Queen let's do mainly Queen material for the fans since it's been so long.

Besides you ungrateful ass, if it wasn't for Paul, you never would've got the chance to see Brian and Roger in the first place.

I don't understand how people can be so stupid.

Now instead of him being part of a great concert that you had a rare chance to attend(remember, it's been 24 fucking years since Bri and Rog played Queen music on American soil) ,you're gonna blast him with insults and and use heresay to justify a completely ridiculous narrow point of view to begin with.

Yeah, Paul took Queen hostage so that he could fill Casino Morango. *rolls eyes*

What a fucking joke.

if he wants to advertise his own tour, let it be, before I would not think twice about it, but now I might even go to a show or 2.

Besides he's not saying nothing he hasn't always been saying.

He just said I have solo dates as a way to emphasize that this wasn't meant to go on forever.
He's said that from day one.
He has always said that he has things that he has put off for Q+PR that he will eventually get back to.

I challenge anyone to find a quote where he said anything different. Like "I'm in this for the long haul." or "I'm Queen's go to guy and Bri and Rog can count on me for years" or something to that effect.

Go ahead, find the quote.
I double dare you.

I have never felt that Paul was in this for the long run.He always shyed away from making a long term commitment with Queen.I think Brian and Rodger are more interested in doing something with him.He did say he had some solo commitments to take care of.I don't think Paul's using Queen, and Brian and Rodger are no dumbes.

Ridiculous man.
What a way to show gratitute and respect for someone who helped light a fire under Bri and Roger's bums.

It was a joyful musical experience that spurned this whole experiment on.
Sure the fringe benefit is that Paul gets great exposure for his name. But like I've already said, that was Bri and Rogers idea, for unlike you, they have a ton of respect for the dude.

Without Queen, the guy had already cemented his place in rock history, and if you refuse to see or acknowledge that, well then there's not much I can say to you that will make any difference.

Carry on with your misguided bashings.

amen to the last post
last year, i never would have thought i would have ever seen brian may and roger taylor again
when i heard of this tour, i couldnt believe my ears....and i already was well aware of paul rodgers, knew who he was, how big a part of rock n roll history he was
i thought it was fabulous for them to be queen and paul rodgers
and at the same time, knew that he also wanted to carry on his solo projects..what the hell is wrong with that? i dont get it
i am grateful to him for being a part of the best show(s) i have seen in years...i will NEVER forget that night in Worcester Massachusetts for as long as i live.
and to add to this
i found out tonight that paul rodgers is playing at Foxwoods Casino the night before my birthday
and I AM NOT ashamed to say that I now have tickets
I am not going to boycott him because he wants to do solo things too
i hope with all my heart that they carry on with Queen and Paul Rodgers and I will follow everything they do, buy any album, go to see any show i can..i will now and always will be one of the biggest Brian May fans alive, but I also have alot more respect for Paul having seen him perform twice this month
Everyone is entitled to their opinions
just wanted to add mine

Well, Brian and Roger already said that some years back they have booked some tour dates with Robbie Williams, but his management felt it was not "cool" to go out touring with pals with your fathers age. So it really isn't the question of "without PR - the desert". the Guys(Bri and Rog) were realy looking for someone for some years(althought they obviously say the contrary)

knute is correct
paul has been consistent in his public comments from the get go

hell he cancelled his tour last year just to do the european tour... he put all his projects on hold..

and out of fairness he had a few more projects then Queen did-- unless of course it was GHIV or the world famous box set.,.. there were certainly no tour or album plans with them

he got them out.... we got to see some magic again... and he annouces a few solo dates and gets dogged

crazy

i got a way with the boys on my block.. :-)

The way I've seen this whole deal is that Bri and Rog weren't doing much, Paul wasn't doing much....why don't they do something together? And luckily (for the most of us) it worked out that way. And remember, all good things must come to an end.

I didn't know about him doing solos shows as well.

All and all, I think PR did this thing for a few good reasons:

1. Money - Let's face it, with Queen he can reach a wider audience, be a part of a totally different kind of tour(in terms of size), and he can pull in a pretty pay check while pursuing more personal music interests(solo shit).

2. For B + R - Brian was a friend, and Roger certainly is now. Paul has helped bring them back together which is a good thing.

3. Artistry and music - I don't think Paul would have bothered if he didn't think he would be inspired in some way other than just taking on Queen's catalogue. I think all along he had the idea that they might be in it for the long haul.

If Paul Rodgers wants to continue his solo career that's great. As a musician you look for ways to expand your artistry. His tastes in music go beyond Queen.
I'm thrilled I got to see him with Queen and respect him as a musician. Whatever he chooses to do I'll respect and support it. If I like it I may even purchase it.

as far as David Lee Roth goes, i dont think he is very pleased with this tour, or should i say paul rodgers.
many times during his radio show, DLR has more or less stated that no matter who you use to front Queen, its like "live kareoke" (sp)..i dont think he has anything against paul rodgers, i just think he feels that the shoes Freddie wore will never be filled(DLR is a fan of Queens music and thinks that Freddie is in a class all to himself)thats my take on it

by the way, DLR did a radio interview with Brian earlier this month when Brian called his show, although i missed it, it still might be arcived on his website

i am the topic stopper
