I just came back from the concert in Phoenix held at the Glendale Arena. It was spectacular...more than words can describe. In my opinion, it was so much better than the one held at the Hollywood Bowl (last year). My guess is that it was more than 90% full (capacity). The energy was amazing, people were standing at least on the floor area. The highlights of the concert for me were:

Under Pressure
These are the days of our lives
The show must go on
Love of my life

You could hear the nonstop clap, screaming minutes and minutes later after they stopped playing Bohemian Rhapsody. What a memorable night, Queen rocks!

i thought it was an amazing concert.. .It was held in the glendale arena, (where the phoenix coyotes play) the venue holds about 14,000 people, but as far as the previous post saying that it was 90 % full, well... its a bit of a white lie, so to speak.. most of the upper deck was "blacked out".. i had a upper deck seat for $45 , but was "upgraded" to a lower section right before the show!! i would say there were at least 7500 in attendance...
Some of the hightlights were..

under pressure
all right now
bo rap tribute to freddie..
love of my life by brian may..
(by the way, brian made a statement about arizona, and said if it wasnt for arizona, he wouldnt be in the music business?? anyone know what he meant???

some of the lowlights...
an idiot fan running on stage during bo rap..

paul rodgers forgetting i believe the third verse to "we are the champions"., but he played it off well.. he said "i am glad all of you are here tonight" to stall us while he remembered the words!!

The clinic Brian went to for his depression is in Arizona. I imagine that's what he meant.

The idiot fan rushed the stage during the final 3rd of BoRhap. He seemed overcome in the moment and rushed Brian, actually grabbing him and "dancing" around him for seconds (which seemed longer to me, who was very concerned). Brian barely missed a note - being the professional that he his - trying hard not to interrupt this beautiful concert highlight for the rest of the fans. Three stage hands "finally" got the guy off the stage. Paul and Brian then exchanged some comments with Brian somewhat shaken, but smiling, and Paul clearly concerned.

The crowd was very small (an usher told me 8,000 out of a standing room capacity of 20K). But they closed off the upper levels so it didn't look or sound empty. Couldn't hear much singing from my location during Love of My Life (not like in Worcester), but the audience was very responsive, respectful and the boys seemed pleased.

BTW, what Brian said was "I wouldn't be here tonight if it weren't for Arizona"... I don't think he was referring to the music business.

Also - I hadn't heard Under Pressure in Hollywood or Worcester, so that was a wonderful treat!

No.. He didn't forget the words.. he was merely thanking the people for showing up in his own way, if you listen to every show on the US tour you will hear him sing that everytime... personally I think it was great, kinda brings you back to when Queen were still young and during the final reprise of Jailhouse Rock Freddie would basically do the same thing, you have to remember, musicians now a days have something that they didnt have in the older days, and that is a monitor scrolling the words to the songs, I am sure if it was just a case of Paul forgetting the last verse it would have just been that Rare occasion.. but it wasn't.

PEOPLE!!! Paul Rodgers is NOT forgetting a Verse in WATC!!! He is adding this improv session on purpose to add a thanks, love etc. It's his added touch to make the music a little different. It's a live show not a cd

True he is not forgetting anything but you have to realise that for most people it will appear that he has just screwed it up and is trying to get back on track with the song. I personally don't like it.

Thanks for the correction about the attendance numbers... I agree, hearing Under Pressure was so great...I did not expect it at all. Amazing concert!

That was a suprise at the Phoenix concert! I have been a Queen fan since 1976 and saw them at the Boston Garden in 1977 & 1978. I enjoyed every moment of the concert. I thought Brian handled himself very well and security managed to pull that man off in a timely manner. It was a suprise to all.

I didn't think he screwed up the first time I heard him do it. I'm a musician and I've done that type of ad lib on many songs so for me it wouldn't seem out of place. I think it might work better on All Right Now.

thanks again for clarification on my comments from last nights show..

Brian May made a comment about how arizona changed his life.. someone mentioned he attended a rehab clinic in arizona..

I am glad the fan who rushed the stage during Bo Rap didnt hurt anyone...

Also, Brian was very emotional during the end of love of my life, he was wiping back tears .. he referred to freddie (before the song) as 'a young man who couldnt quite make it here tonight.."

I really think Paul Rodgers may have forgot the words to WATC.. I mean he stalled for about 10 seconds, then said, something to the effect of.. i am glad everyone was able to be here tonight... then jumped into i have taken my bows and my curtain calls...
It just seemed a bit off in the timing, and it sort of ruined the whole flow of the song.. i saw the show in hollywood and dont remember him improving during that segment...

Once again, a truly remarkable show, amazing performance..

It looked like Paul fell off the side of the catwalk during or at the end of Bad Company...he also dropped the mic when this happend, he was then helped up and escorted around the backstage and came back on stage from backstage...it was well covered though...

The improving bit on WATC was done at 8 2006 shows. Thanks.

Just to clarify - Brian was never in rehab. I think it was called Cottonwood - I'm sure someone will correct this info if I'm wrong.

Nighty nite!
