I'm not that knowledgable in the subject of rare queen records but I think I remember someone saying the above item was nearly impossible to find as only a few were pressed. I also remember someone saying there were a lot of fakes of this on ebay but peter hince is mentioned in the item description and it may be legitimate. Also, on checking the seller's feedback, he/she seems to have been selling certain iterms that are available from peter hince's photography business website.

'The B side has a standard EMI test pressing tone for approx 2 minutes, but does not have the B side ‘Going Back’ that was on the released record.'

All fakes I know of are two-sided. This suggests that this test press could well be genuine.

Wasn't LL1 the catalogue number of one of the bootleg re-releases? I would expect a test pressing of the original to have the original EMI2036 (?) catalogue number. Maybe this is a test pressing for the bootleg....?

Plus, wasn't the Larry Lurex name a late addition to the project?

That's certainly correct. The original track was to be released by Larry Lurex and The Voles From Venus.

However, 'IF' the Ratty connection 'IS' correct, I would suspect that his copy would not be a bootleg - surely?

Okay, I know how the name Larry Lurex came around, but what about The Voles From Venus?

Is that a parody of The Spiders From Mars? (as in Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars)

I guess so.

Ziggy Stardust was originally release by RCA, June 6 1972.
Larry Lurex was originally released just over one year later by EMI, 29 June 1973.

You can view a copy of the 'Voles From Venus' acetate here:
