Firstly it was his house, it is now HERS, secondly, "she is so cold to fans" have you met her? No, she is perfectly kind so long as you respect her property.

Why should she move, it's her home.

Your attitude towards her property is appalling and frankly just displays your level of intelligence.

Mary was Freddies closest friend, if you have any respect for him, you should also have some for her, I'm sure he would love the fact that kids scrawl on his old front door, after all it was his sanctuary, a place he went to escape and he was very house proud.

How affectionately he must look upon what has become of it.

Okay right we get your point, but what about the flowers and cards? That too has to be taken away? Surely that isn't distroying the propity?

Well how long does it have to get left there? at the end of the day it's a public path that has to be kept clear, and after all these years still to come home every night to a bunch of cards and flowers must get bloody frustrating.

After someone dies there is an exceptable time to do this, but not year after year.

Go pay your respects, but don't mess it up for her and everyone that lives in the road, be respectful it's not a public memorial, it's private property.

Why not grafitti? I don't see anything wrong with it as long as they don't spell Freddie's name "Freddie"...! ;)

I know I am respectful. I know a few of the neighbours that live there actually. Because I come so often they know me and I dont disturb them I'm so quiet and respectable. I like going there even if it is to just stare at the walls and windows. It's just something I have to do, I need to do. I like to clear my mind when I'm there and just relax. Dont ask why, it just gives me comfort to be around that area. I never said she should move out or anything like that. I just pay my respects in a good way. Peace x

I'm always amazed by how seemingly nice people think it's OK to vandalize Garden Lodge. Graffiti is vandalism. From all accounts, it's clear that Freddie loved that place. Do people actually think he would have liked to see messages scrawled all over the walls? Instead of leaving something that someone else has to either clean up or pay to have cleaned up, please respect Freddie's memory and the home that he loved. Please consider NOT spending the time/effort/money, and stay away from this private home. A donation in any amount to the Mercury Phoenix Trust would be a positive way to demonstrate your respect.

Please dont tell people to not go. It's they're choice people are aloud to just walk by and vist. I see people walk around that area it's no big deal at all. I wont stop going for no one. I love going and will continue to go. I understand where your coming from about the graffiti which I don't do. Peace x

I completely agree with Togg and Crazy Little Thing. I think it was very cool what was done to Freddie's house when he passed away (as featured on the Heaven for Everyone video), a lot of people payed their respects by turning the walls to a piece of art.

But after 15 years he passed away spray painting or chalking anything on those walls are pure vandalism, whatever the reason to do so may be. Also I mean no disrespect to anybody here when I say hanging around or spending time near Garden Lodge feels like stalking a little. So I believe people should visit the place with this on their minds, trying not to disturb the residents or not visit at all.

People that care for Freddie should show the same amount of care and respect to one of the most important individuals who crossed paths with him. There are MANY ways you can pay your respects to him, without disturbing anyone.

Donating to the Mercury Phoenix Trust is a very good example in my opinion. You can buy their albums to contribute also (I know most people do, but there still are many so called fans who listen to pirated copies or mp3's of Queen material). You can light a candle in the church (or do the equivalent according your beliefs). Or you can SIMPLY listen to his songs, and appreciate them, which above all is purely what they're meant for. These are the things, IMHO are what would make Freddie happy. Not disturbing someone of such importance to him like Mary Austin...

She can do so, she is. I am still going to pay my respects anyway. Which wont involve graffti. Peace.

Well I can see that going there once or twice is not an issue, believe me I visited on the day of his death. But considering he died around the same time as your were born I am surprised to say the least that you feel the need to go there so often.

He did touch many lives, but maybe you going there all the time is not so healthy, I would try to keep it to a once a year thing if you can and maybe try to move on, if you are looking for a place to sit and think, I can think of many more tranquile places than a London street!

Freddie loved many places in his life, you should try to find some of your own.

How was that like? I'm interested to know please.
What happened while you was there? How many people was there? Did you see Mary or any other person who lived at Garden Lodge? If you can remember it would be nice to know. Peace.

I disagree with the first half. But more importantly, at what point does the switch occur? Is 5 years still art or is it vandalism by then?

*His* house? It's Mary's house now, and you know it. Freddie left it behind for her. It's not much use to him now. And the way you refer to Mary just prooves to us all what an ignorant jackass you are. Get a life.

I think you'll be surprised how quickly you get bored.
You may not think you disturb anyone, but sitting and staring at someone's house day after day IS disturbing.

Me? I'm just amazed that a 15 year-old, whose mother-tongue is English spells and writes so atrociously.

I swore, reading the first few posts, that Vicky Pollard was a real person.

The tawdry destruction of someone's property with chalk, felt-tips, crayons or whatever, is, on the other hand, not surprising.

Not any more.

eerrr I think you need to find some places that have meaning in YOUR life not just Queen's, You can't just live life through a band or other person you have to create something of your own.

Regarding going there on the day he died, it was one of those times when fortune played a part, I was in London for a meeting and was able to swing by his place and pay my respects. There was a small crowd of people gathered. No photographers as I remember, however as I was leaving a TV crew did turn up.

I didn't leave anything or write anything, I justy felt like seeing where he had his last few hours. I left and felt glad I had been there.

I think that it is horrible that you would chalk the house up. It's still vandalism, and its private property you know?
