who would you say is the better song writer? It really is tough to say, because these two wrote some of queen's best hits and songs just to name a few from each: Brian: '39 Fat Bottomed Girls We Will Rock You I Want It All Tie Your Mother Down Who Wants To live Forever We Will Rock You Keep Yourself Alive White Queen The Show Must Go On Sail Away Sweet Sister Hammer to Fall Save Me Freddie: Bohemian Rhapsody Killer Queen Love of My Life Somebody To Love Crazy Little Thing Called Love Play The Game Bicycle Race Don't Stop Me Now We Are The Champions Seven Seas Of Rhye Under Pressure these songs are just some of the great ones they each wrote, but who do you guys think were more talented at song writing?
Roger: Can I go To Lunch Now?
Brian: No, You Can't...

My favourite tracks tend to be Brian's (which doesn't mean he was better). Of course Fred was more advanced in musical things like modulations and complex structures and rhythms, which doesn't make him better either. They were both brill, and a good team whenever they collaborated.
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Rog didn't compose 'Innuendo.' Witness testimonies are often inaccurate. Wales is not in England. 'Bo Rhap' hasn't got 180 vox.

I like/love more of Freddie's songs than Brian's, but the songs of Brian that I love, I LOVE. I guess that's my way of saying I also think they're equal.

I find that Brians writing is more emotional but thats just me.
Well here's my counter-offer... do I have to kill you? What if I were just to kick the ever loving shit out of you?

Under Pressure is hardly a song written by Freddie Mercury though...
Basically blind em and deaf em in the first 10 minutes, and while they are recovering from that put in the less good songs

I think Freddie was more repsonsible for the Queen sound with his songs, e.g multi-tracked harmonies etc. and probably wrote the greatest songs such as Bo Rhap, MOTB and POTU but May was far more consistent than Fred, particularly in the later years when Mercury's songwriting went downhill and Queen's sound was more pop than rock. Brian had a very important role in the eighties, keeping them weighted in rock and he did this very well with Hammer To Fall, I Want it All etc. he kept hitting the mark when others wrote synth based filler. Lyrically, Brian was far superior and his songs worked better live because they were heavier. Fred's attention to detail and knack for seamless signature transitions made him the more listenable and varied though.
