Please people, listen to Queen plus Paul Rodgers live in Philadelphia and tell me who sings the chorus in We Will Rock You.
Or Seattle or Buffalo...

It sounds like the chorus of the studio version of We Will Rock You, what a shame...they put it on a tape...

YV: I thought throughout much of the tour that the chorus sounded very similar to the WWRY stage production version. I don't remember when I first noticed it. I thought it sounded like there were some extra voices, some of them female, and all of them were too good and too audible to be the few good singers in the audience.

But . . . the hand claps and foot stomps that got the audience going for the encore were brilliant, and totally made the crowd a part of the moment. This I heard for the first time in Washington, DC.

Agreed. It was a terrific moment, the way it was slowly faded in, building the anticipation for the band to come back on stage. Very theatrical, very nice.

And how about the harmonies at the beginning of FBG totally canned - they never sounded that good in their prime - listen to Roger on some of the old boots from that era & listen to him now...hmmm - Big time Bands have been doing this for some time -

I wonder why, on this 2006 tour, they are playing over a backing track on "We Will Rock You?" They didn't do it on the 2005 tour. You can understand Roger Singing over a backing track on "'Days of Our Lives" & "Ga Ga". Freddie's Vocal on "Bo Rhap" is ok. But Why on "Rock You????"
Do we, Europeans sing louder during the chorus & don't need the backing track? Any Ideas Anyone?

I did not see your message AWIYE and I did not notice the tape recorded chorus until last night - just incredible. I don't know why they used it, they should be able to sing it live.

As to the FBG and IWIA harmonies - I thought from the start that they are from tape and not live. Brian May claimed they are live but now I don't believe that anymore.

Well, YV, I also DID mention it once or twice before ;-)

Yes, indeed they use the footstomping/handclaping from the studioversion and also the chorus vocals straight from the record. Including Freddies voice!

The FBG intro, I still DO believe is done live.

These are the days still has computer programmed percussion as does GaGa

I'm not sure about the US, but in Europe there have been some shows where they played a tape over the chorus of WATC with the f%g&* musical cast!!

AND let's not forget -again I am not sure about USA, have to check the recordings- but at least in Europe they played a LIVE track of GSTQ (probably from Live at Wembley) with a MASSIVE crowd singing along. ;-)
Until Brian remastered the 'new' version. They played that one at the EU open air shows.

Why not?
They are with six singing people onstage, compared to four in the early days.

The FBG harmonies were definitely live. Believe it.

As far as the backing stuff that was on tape with WWRY, I can see everyone being bothered. I mean, when Freddie was alive, Queen never, ever, ever, used any tape backing. All the times I saw them in the 70s, I just know that Bohemian Rhapsody was all done live.

Some people act like this is the first time Queen have ever used backing tracks.

But on the other hand it's not that weird....brian and roger are not as young as the used to be.

At Dublin and Vancouver, I was close enough to hear and I am sure he sung it live - in Vancouver badly wrong, BTW...

Yes, but they used a harmonizer for nearly all backin vocals(an fx which puts them all in the same range), very audible e.g. on "dragon attack" chorus and on the whole rotc.
but... did anyone notice that the fan singing at loml on the japanese dvd sounds a bit too good?? also if you compare it to the (nearly not existing) fan singing on the old japanese shows.was that playback too or are all japanese in the church-choir nowadays.

to clt: nice to meet you too in washington :-)
to yv: sehen uns nächstes jahr in der 1. bl
