Well anyways I was watching a video last night by this band called Testament and the lead singer used the half mic stand...like Freddie...

But just wondering if anyone was familiar with this band...and knew anything else like if they were influenced by Queen...

Cheers

Come on! They are a LEGENDARY metal band from the 80's! Maybe one of the most influential and well known metalacts from those days, after the then-still-obscure Metallica!
Yes, they are influenced by Queen - never made a secret of that, as do many metal bands.
I've never seen the singer with a half-micstand though...!

There are more people who use a half mic stand... I'll tell you a secret, there are more people who punched their fist into the air..

The singer in question is Jeff Scott Soto, who since seems to have reinvented himself as a Queen tribute singer (he performed on the Dragon Attack tribute CD in about 1998, played with Brian at a fan club bash in 1999 & some other event, poss in Vegas).

He's also managed by the man who posts on QOL as "FT", I believe.

Yes, they had some good songs in the late 80's, a change of pace from the hair metal scene, they were a little bit more heavy then your average metal band, I even had a shirt, I would compare them somewhat to Iron maiden if I had to compare them to a band.

No way, not even close to Maiden.
They are one of the bigger Trash metal bands as Jeroen already said. They're in the line of (old) Metallica, Megadeth, Exodus etc. They may be influenced by Maiden, but don't sound like them.
And influenced by Queen? I think not. At least, there are hardly any similarities between the two.

I got confused between Talisman & Testament. No idea why, but it was pretty fucking stupid. I'd heard of Testament...
