Since there has been some discussion about my shows i have been sharing here. I just went ahead and listened to a few people who would prefer me to share the FLAC files. I just recorded another show and saved them all in flac files and the file is freakin huge. I hope no one gets "mad" but damn, this is very time consuming now sharing in FLAC, but as for TRADING...I will TRADE in FLAC. But as for now, i am just trying to get these shows out and im sorry if I offend anyone, but i am going to SHARE in mp3 and TRADE in FLAC. I will keep all my wav files just for that if anyone is interested in trading. If you don't want the mp3 shows, just move on to the next post. As for the concert i just recorded, i will try to find somewhere i can upload the 760 megs to share this here. Its a good one, MSG, NY-November 16, 1978. As i said before, i am just recording these shows to my computer for my own use to put them on cd, I dont want them on cassette anymore. But since i was doing that, i may as well share them. I don't even need to be sharing these, but i just hope i make some people happy by getting theses concerts to them. Any feedback (positive hopefully) will be appreciatted.

Thanks...Pete

I appreciate all your sharing, regardless of what format it's in. Honestly, the discerning ear that can tell a difference between mp3 and flac files must have a damn good hearing aid to assist in distinguishing between the two...forgive my ignorance (to any flac lovers reading this post). I'm not a trader so I don't care what format it's in. I'm thankful people even share and I'm able to build a collection due to people's graciousness, like epislash.

Thanks, Pete...you rock!

Once it's converted to MP3 it makes no sense converting it to flac since the quality already has diminished some due to the drop to MP3.

You won't hear me complaining about how shows are posted.

I'll ask if they can post it in flac and if they do that's fine. If they don't, then I don't get the show. It's as simple as that.

Everyone should be thankful that people are willing to share AND seed the shows here.
That's what keeps the community going.

Thanks for what you've shared so far, epislash

-=Please remember to stick around and seed... so others can share in the fun too..-=

I could be wrong but from spending alot of time in the studios throughout the years, i think when you compress raw audio you lose certain frequencies that aren't audible by themselves, but as a whole you notice a difference.

Epislash,

Have you considered trying a torrent?

The only incovenient is that you have to keep your computer running until you have uploadaed at least a full copy, after that it is up to the people that got it to keep it going.

check the sticky thread on this forum about how to make and post torrents.

And as I said before I don't care if you share your shows as MP3, I have several shows in MP3 myself. I just think that you will be able to reach more people if you share them as FLAC.

The one thing about sharing as MP3 is that some people often try to trade them later as loosless recordings. this in turns makes some collectors unwilling to share their stuff. wich is why most Fan comunities on other bands dont share as mp3.

One other way you can share your recordings without uploading is using a VINE. for info on how this works and how to set it up go here:

http://forum.ultimatequeen.com/index.php

all this will cost you is one ot two CD's and the mailing of a package.

keep up the good work though.

Wish there where some more people that would share their stuff.

Flac is a lossless format. If you have a VERY expensive stereo system, play an original cd that is very well recorded in the first place and compare it to an mp3 version at 192 kbs and a flac copy, you MIGHT be able to tell the difference if a:your hearing was very good, and b: you knew the source material well.
Try this with an already poor quality bootleg and impossible to tell the difference.
I agree that if the bootleg is copied a couple of hundred times (or more)a little more quality is lost, but not to the extent that some people maintain.
I appreciate the time and effort you put into making the music available, and for bootlegged concert's, mp3 is fine.
Just my 2 cents worth

True, there aren't instruments which go to, for example 20 Khz. But the harmonics of certain instruments do go to those higher ranges.

I've been posting on this subject dozens of times here and I have little interest in starting it again, but that's certainly one of the most ridiculous and idiotic postings I've read here. Just incredible how ignorant some people are, who call themselves fans and all they are trying to do is to persuade other fans to spread lossy junk. Really incredible and really sad.

It always nice to hear from the highly intelligent militant wing of flac proponents.

...which is one of the reasons 48kHz and 96kHz audio exists.

Ok... but can you tell us the reason for the existence of hot-air balloons?

Difficult one? Well, just "pick an answer":

a) Edinburgh
b) Cleveland
c) Vancouver

or
d) they just happen to be there... ;-)

PS: Sorry but... answer d is "mp3-only" though!
