Well it used to be an album I played all the time, but somehow I got bored with it and never bothered to get it on CD, I finally stopped playing my LP's about ten years ago and so it was confined to a case in the attic.

Yesterday I finally bought it, and OMG what a terrible recording it really is... there is no depth to it at all, makes you wonder sometimes if John was even plugged in. And the drums.... well it just shows you how much recent live recordings have moved on, I used to think this was the best album I'd ever heard of a live band. hmmm well I was sadly mistaken.

Great playing, but what a crappy recording, no wonder Roger hated it, I always used to wonder why, guess I know now.

Anyone had similar experiences with it or other long forgotten albums?

No, I havent, but I've never been a huge fan of LK. The playing was clearly excellent but the recording was really bad. Maybe this was considered a good live recording in its day, I wouldn't know, but it certainly isn't good by modern standards.

This can't end well.

it's a good live album, but not a classic, a lot of live albums from the 60's have a fantastic sound, The Doors or some Hendrix, even Miles Davis.
It's a shame 'cause it was a great tour and a great set list.

In my opinion not a classic, now comes to my mind Deep Purple's Made in Japan, The Who's live at leeds, Miles Davis Live Evil.

I like the setlist but it's recorded so bad.

Flashpoint from the Stones has the same problem

i don't think it could've been
listening (again) to :-

Made in Japan (deep purple)
Stangers In The Night (UFO)
Alive II (Kiss)
Live & Dangerous (thin lizzy)
frampton comes alive (Peter Frampton)

these are how live albums from that decade should sound

Couldn't agree more. Only problem with Live and Dangerous: No Boys are Back in Town.

Not their best live album, but you have to admit that Brighton Rock doesn't get any better than that one on Live Killers...it just smokes!!!

I haven't listen to that album in 2 years, so I still have 8 before I can comment.

I THINK "LIVE KILLERS" SOUNDS LIKE AN OLD "BOOTLEG".
(REMEMBER YES'"YESSONGS"?).
THE BAND'S PERFORMANCE IS GREAT.
THE SOUND IS TERRIBLE...
