Hey guys. Check out this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ba4YFjHbN7I&search=queen%20live

I noticed something weird. Check out the acapella bit at 4:12.

all the voices go "Find me somebody to love"
And then someone changes to "Somebody.... somebody"

When you look at the video you see Freddie taking his microphone away from his mouth in the gap between the 2 somebody's. So I think Freddie changes the part. Then he puts it back to his mouth for the 2nd Somebody. But during the mic is away you still hear him singing "Find me somebody to love"

Is this overdubbed or am I going crazy?

They wouldn't have been dicking with a delay machine?

Hmmm I'll have to watch it because I don't recall any delay stuff at that bit (though it might've been a good idea, in hindsight).

Oh...that is a bit odd.

Good eyes Fried Chicken.

Well, I dont think Queen were ever one for lip-synching, so 99% of their stuff I think is live, so maybe they did do a little playback, lol. Soembody ask Brian...

I'm pretty sure this isn't an overdub. It sounds more like a delay to me.

Queen never lip synched in concerts. And it would be useless and weird to overdub a bootleg. So I guess it's a delay machine. Thats why you hear the 2 different lines at the same time when you hear more than 1 voice singing 'somebody somebody'

Yeah because it's simply not true. Why would one overdub a unreleased video? That would be a waste of time and money.

john deacon can definetly be heard in that part, especially at the end in the 'anybody find me...' before freddies solo high bit. i actually like his voice, offers something a bit different.

How come John keeps licking his fingers? I've never seen him do that in any other footage, and definitely not that many times. What's up with that?

Freddie sounds great btw.

Yeah, he is talking bollocks, again. Nice try, though. Keep on practising.

Licking your fingers gives the bass a more flat tone. He did it with certain songs that require a flatter tone. It also lets your fingers run over the strings easier. I do it occasionally but not many people do it.

Yes, it's a delay.
They did that with most S2L performances (if not all). Some are just more apparent than others.
It is very cool the way the last delayed "Somebody" lines up with the one in the final "Somebody to love".
The delay also allows Roger to sing his "Find me - me" like on the studio version.
