yesterday i was watching one of those 9/11 conspiracy documentaries and they mentioned how the US government had created some sort of device which after 10 minutes of analysing somebody's voice could then produce conversations with exactly the same form of soung or voice(a little bit like in Terminator Part 2) So wouldn't it be incredible if Freddie's voice could be fed into the device and songs new songs could be produced!
p.s i don't believe in the conspiracy theories surrounding 9/11...well at least not all of them

I think that would be really amazing, but I'm pretty sure 95% of the comments this topic will get will be like:

Freddie is dead, get used to it!

Nothing will bring Freddie back, he's DEAD!

That is soooooo stupid, Freddie DIED 15 years ago, he's not singing anymore!

Here's one for ya... I read a year ago in my lovely music magazine that a company had developed a piece of software to replicate a person's singing voice. It merely needed the person singing vowel sounds to recreate that person's singing voice!

Shame I lost it cause I'm sure there was a weblink.

Peace,
Adam.

Isn't that what they have done with Tupac Shakur songs after he died (besides the ones that were recorded before his death)

Reproducing Tupac songs without Tupac wouldn't be rocket science.

1). Wait outside door of recording studio.
2). Grab the 1st unwitting soul to walk past.
3). Slap a pair of headphones on him

Done.

I've been wondering why they haven't made a Freddie voice synth for years - he sung just about every note there was within his range. At the very least they should sell a Freddie keyboard that plays backing harmonies using his voice. It'd be like a mellotron, playing back samples of his voice in all different notes... it'd kick arse.

Whilst it would, of course, be nice to hear 'new' Freddie songs, it wouldn't be the same, because you would know it wasn't Freddie! However, I wonder if this kind of device could be used, say, to fill in gaps in incompleted songs.

I don't for a minute it'd sound Just Like Freddie, but it'd be an awesome thing to experiment with. I don't know why they don't take on a project like that, just for a laugh even.

Don't think this is possible.. Even if it is technically so.. Remember the feelings, tone, & strength of voice, these can't be simply replicated by any machine..

Not possible, eh? Then let me frighten you some more! A Woo Ha Ha!!

Basically, there is a piece of software that lets a person sing into a microphone and then it's analysed and converted into pitch information. This is then applied to the mapped voice (say it was a freddie version) and it will use the performance by yourself and sing with Fred's voice and your performance.

Peace,
Adam.

P.S. Heck, there's a rackmount unit called the tc helicon, that I'm sure I've mentioned here before, that will alter the characteristics of your voice. This can make you a man sound like a girl (very well - not a cheap effect) or like a young teenage boy. Or add Growl to your voice, make it seem like you're a smoker, etc. It's very possible!

Wow. This is wild. Yet another thing I had considered as a premise for a fictional short story, and here you all are talking about it...

Even GarageBand's pitch-shifter beats what I used to use.
I recorded myself talking last night in an effort to sound like a woman for a movie I'm making. It didn't work, but I sounded *just* like myself when I was 13. It was fucking spooky, I couldn't distinguish between the pitched recording and actual speech from all those years ago. It did the same thing to my now-pubertied nephew.

So if a cheap-shit filter from Apple can turn back years on my voice I'm *sure* they could make something that'd at least do something Nifty with Freddie's voice. Let's not debate on how convincing it'd be until someone actually tries it. :P
