From what i've heard, Knebworth 1986 - last Queen concert ever, original recording tape was sold to private collector!

Can someone tell me more about this or it's bullshit, also there seem to be guy who swears that he seen it on his own eyes- live at knebworth great quality ...

F*ck private collectors... they are the cancer of the giant bands.... always wanting stuff for themselfs, disrespecting the band wishes and fans desires.Private collectors should deliver the stuff they stole to the bands to make it available to the fan community!

its true - actually i hear a DVD is coming, as QP managed to buy back the master tape! I also hear from "reliable sources" that Sunbury 74 might be the extra DVD - although the footage might not be up to standard for release.

How do you think studio quality versions of 'Self-Made Man', 'My Secret Fantasy', 'Robbery', 'Polar Bear', demos from The Miracle, Innuendo, and Hot Space, 'Silver Salmon', 'Feelings Feelings', and 'Feel Like' (to name but a few) got out? Do you think that was because Queen Productions kindly said, "Ah, so this is what the people want!"?

According to Brian's recent comment on his site, no audio feed was set up at the Knebworth gig (basically a mistake on somebody's part) so it has gone forever. As I said, this is according to Brian but we can always live in hope that something was captured. I'd definitely like to see the footage at least, as I was at the gig. Happy days.......

Cheers,

Keith.

Like I posted in the other topic about knebworth. What about the footage from the freddie mercury inserts on the tribute dvd?there is footage on there that was shown on the big screens so they must have at least the big screen footage. How can they otherwise put it on that tribute dvd? That could still be a cool extra on the budapest dvd:-)

Actually, technically, there is footage of the concert, but only by somebody who shot the big screen showing the concert. So if you want to see the concert so bad then just get that, decent video quality, very good audio for audience recording

Fuck it Lester - some people will NEVER understand.
They all want their stuff NOW NOW NOW!
No, we cannot wait for that recording to help unearth even MORE material... we want it NOW!!

Private collectors are the LIFEBLOOD of the collecting comunity.

It is because of them that interest in live material started. Had the first Dylan bootleg not been released at the end of 1969, we may never have had the interest in live material that exists now.

Bands play live so that their audience can experience them NOW and IN THE PRESENT. Concerts were not, in essence, played to be listened to 30 years hence.

Just because someone holds on to a recording of a show that other people would like them to hear does not make them evil, does it. They are just lucky to be able to have the recording. Giving it back to the band's management would not necessarily necessitate an official release either - it would just mean that it would go from one "collection" to another.

More power to the private collectors in my view - long may they reign an hold on to what they have!

That ofcourse is bullshit. At least part of the show was professionally recorded, how else could they include parts of it on Live Magic (and the bside to Under Pressure in 1999, the Knebworth Mix of UP).

I'm sure that a complete professional audio recording exists.

Ok, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't QP record ALL shows from 1974 onwards? And isn't most of Live Magic from Knebworth? I have seen some of the Professional footage from Knebworth (put on here in a documentry a few months ago) so why only film parts of it? And also, how would the film crew know what to film to capture the best bits of the concert ahead of time? It makes no sense not to have filmed the whole thing! Just my two cents anyway!

That is indeed correct:

Queen: Live Magic
Edited CD/ LP EMI CDP 7 464132
Recorded: Wembley Stadium, Knebworth Park, and Nepstadion, Budapest.
Released: UK 1st December 1986
Produced by Queen / Trip Khalaf
Engineered by John 'Teddy Bear' Brough

One Vision - Knebworth, 9 August 1986
Tie Your Mother Down - Knebworth, 9 August 1986
Seven Seas Of Rhye - Knebworth, 9 August 1986
A Kind Of Magic - Budapest, 27 July 1986
Under Pressure - Budapest, 27 July 1896
Another One Bites The Dust - Knebworth, 9 August 1986
I Want To Break Free - Knebworth, 9 August 1986
Is This The World We Created - Wembley, 11 July 1986
Bohemian Rhapsody - Knebworth, 9 August 1986
Hammer To Fall - Wembley, 12 July 1986
Radio Ga Ga - Knebworth, 9 August 1986
We Will Rock You - Knebworth, 9 August 1986
Friends Will Be Friends - Knebworth, 9 August 1986
We Are The Champions - Knebworth, 9 August 1986
God Save The Queen - Knebworth, 9 August 1986

Under Pressure Medley UK 7” Promo - Knebworth, 9 August 1986

My guess is that the full version does exist, but is NOT 'good enough' for Queen quality control.

That said, I think I also agree that I would prefer a concert from a different era - than yet another version from the Magic tour.

1. Brian spoke about the video recordings. Not audio. See below Justin S Smith answer to audio tapes:

"I saw this stuff on the WWW a while ago. These were simply tapes that I sent to "The Farm" (the Genesis studio) to have copies made. They are indeed the Knebworth multi-tacks of which we have a complete set, plus copies. I had been asked to mix the Knebworth version of Under Pressure for an internet bonus download or something (I think it eventually got put out on a CD) and needed the copies for this reason. Why somebody took a snap of them while they were there is not known - I'll ask the guys at the studio."

2. Audio exist, multifeed video does NOT.
