OK, the story goes that Roger had seen the book of The Shining and liked the cover, both he and Freddie thought the image might work for an album cover, (like NOTW) however there were copywrite issues so it never happened.

Roger later produced a bass drum head (The Face) inspired by the image.

I maybe wrong but I believe this was the original book image used for a film poster.

(this second image is I believe a first edition copy of the book in hard back, so it may well be the one Roger had seen, it dates from 77')

Probably 'Jazz' (which was still untitled back then), I suppose...if it's true, that is.

Well I guess it would make more sense than The Game, but that album has a particularly weak cover which too me aways seemed like an after thought, which would tie in with both the possibility that is was suddenly changed when they didn't get permission.

Timing wise Roger then uses it on the drum for the folowing tour.

So your guess is as good as mine.
